A 19-year-old is gearing up for his first term on his local school board. Stanley Celestine Junior received 65-percent of the vote on November sixth for a seat on the Avoyelles Parish School Board. He’s also pursuing a bachelor’s in sociology through an online program at McNeese State. Celestine says he also works in the mental health field and owns his own consulting company for non-profits

The Saints look unstoppable as New Orleans won its ninth straight yesterday beating the defending Super Bowl champs 48-7. The frustration was evident with Philadelphia. Former Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins flipped the bird at Sean Payton after the Saints scored on a 37-yard touchdown pass on fourth-and-six with 13:22 left to go in the game and the Saints already up by 31 points.

A Thanksgiving dinner in Louisiana is quite the bargain, when compared to the nationwide cost. The American Farm Bureau says the average nationwide cost is $48.90, but in Louisiana it’s half that. Louisiana Farm Bureau spokesperson Avery Davidson says turkeys are much cheaper in the Bayou State….

A major sticking point is that House Republicans, like Abraham, want work requirements for some recipients of food stamps. But the Senate version of the legislation does not contain that language.

According to the American Farm Bureau, the nationwide average price for a Thanksgiving dinner is $48.90, but it’s much cheaper in Louisiana. Just $22.63 after surveying a few Louisiana grocery stores. Avery Davidson is with the Louisiana Farm Bureau and he says you can save some more, if you do your research….

It goes down as the worst loss ever for a team that won the Super Bowl the year before.

Quarterback Drew Brees threw for 363 yards and four touchdowns. Tre’Quan Smith caught a career-high 10 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown. Fellow wide out Michael Thomas caught four passes for 92 yards and became the first Saint to have over over 1,000 yards receiving in his first three seasons in the NFL.

Les Miles is back as a college football coach. He was introduced yesterday as the new head man for the floundering Kansas Jayhawk football program. The “Hat” has signed a five-year deal worth two-point-seven million dollars annually.

After beating Rice 42-10, LSU has moved up to number eight in both major college football polls. The Tigers close out the regular season this Saturday in College Station against Texas A-and-M. LSU will go for its 10th win, while the Aggies are looking for their eighth win in Jimbo Fisher’s first year.

Nicholls will host San Diego this Saturday in the first round of the F-C-S playoffs. It’s the second straight year the Colonels will host the Pioneer Football League champion in the postseason. Nicholls is one of three Southland schools to make the playoffs, U-I-W and Lamar are also in.

ULM, the Ragin Cajuns and Arkansas State are in a three-way tie for first place in the Sun Belt’s West Division. UL-Lafayette visits the Warhawks this Saturday.

Wanhua Chemical, which is based in China, announces plans to build a 1.25 billion dollar chemical manufacturing complex in St. James Parish in the town of Convent. The 250-acre manufacturing site will create 170 new direct jobs.

A suspected serial killer has confessed to the murder of two Terrebonne Parish women. The murders happened in 1982 and 1996. Houma Police Sgt. Travis Theriot says detectives believe the suspect, 78 year-old Samuel Little, killed dozens of women in several states

Little is currently serving multiple life sentences in a a Texas jail. He also confessed to killing 29-year-old Melissa Thomas of Opelousas in 1996.

Republican Congressman Ralph Abraham from Richland Parish says he supports a work or educational requirement for an able-bodied adult to be eligible for SNAP written into the Farm Bill. Abraham says the current version of the Senate Farm Bill is seeing hurdles in the lame duck session, as he says Dems want to completely rewrite the bill.

Abraham says there is a chance that there may be an agreement reached with the Farm Bill before the lame duck sessions ends.

An announcement is expected this weekend regarding Les Miles who will reportedly become the next head coach of the Kansas Jayhawks. The 65-year-old Miles has been eager to get back in coaching since his firing from LSU in September 2016.

The Tigers host Rice tonight in Death Valley. Also today, Ragin Cajuns host South Alabama. ULM is at Arkansas State, Tech visits Southern Miss.

Repairs to the Sunshine Bridge in St. James Parish are ahead of schedule. Kevin Barnhart has the story.

US Representative Mike Johnson has been named Republican Study Committee Chairman which gives Louisiana more clout in Congress. In a statement Johnson said with the Republican Party becoming the minority party in the House, this committee has a vital responsibilty to present practical ideas and effective policy initiatives and vigorously defend and advance core conservative principles.

Suspected serial killer Samuel Little has confessed to two murders in Terrebonne Parish. Little who is in a Texas Prison has told Louisiana authorities he killed 59-year-old Doroty Richard in 1982 and 40-year-old Daisy McGuire in 1996. Houma Police Sergeant Travis Theriot says the most important part is that the families of the victims have closure…

In the high school football playoffs last night, the game of the night took place in Ruston as the 8th seeded Bearcats in Class Five-A defeated Alexandria 61-60 in double overtime. Ruston advances to play West Monroe in the quarterfinals.

Also in Five-A, third-seeded Acadiana rallied to beat Denham Springs 38-37. The Wreckin Rams advance to play defending champ Zachary in the quarterfinals. The Broncos rolled past Andrew Robison and the Hahnville Tigers 41-20.

And in 3-A Sterlington defeated Church Point 57-56 in overtime. Sterlington faces district rival Union Parish in the quarterfinals.

The LSU football team should have an easy time of it tonight as they host 1-and-10 Rice. The Tigers are a 44-point favorite.

And former coach Les Miles is reportedly moving closer to finalizing a deal with Kansas to become the next head coach of the Jayhawks.

ULM looks to stay in sole possession of first place today as the Warhawks visit Arkansas State. ULM has won four in a row, but they’ve lost eight straight to the Red Wolves.

The Ragin Cajuns can become bowl eligible with a win over South Alabama.

Louisiana Tech is at Southern Miss. The Bulldogs have lost lost three straight to the Golden Eagles.

McNeese closes out its season with a home game against Lamar.

The Saints host the defending champion Eagles tomorrow in the Superdome. Terron Armstead and Marcus Davenport have both been ruled out for this game. For the Eagles no Jalen Mills or Darren Sproles and starting right tackle Lane Johnson is questionable with a knee injury. Philadelphia arrives in New Orleans as a desperate team as they are just 4-and-5 on the season.

Last night in hoops, 22nd ranked LSU rallied to beat Louisiana 74-67 and Anthony Davis had 43 points in a come from behind win over the Knicks.
