ESPN is reporting that Pelicans All Star Anthony Davis has told the team he has no intention of signing a contract extension with the team and wants to be traded. It’s been a frustrating season for the Pels, as they are 22-and-28.

When the new Top 25 basketball poll comes out today, the Tigers should be ranked in the Top 20 after a couple more wins last week. LSU had a remarkable comeback on Saturday in their 86-80 overtime victory over Missouri. The Bayou Bengals were down 14 points with just over two minutes left, but Skylar Mays scored nine consecutive points in 27 seconds and he finished with a career-high 24 points. The Tigers are at Texas A-and-M on Wednesday.

Louisiana Tech basketball also had a good week as the Bulldogs beat Marshall on Thursday and then Conference USA preseason favorite Western Kentucky on Saturday.

The AFC defeated the NFC 26-7 in yesterday’s Pro Bowl in rainy Orlando. Former LSU Tiger and Jets safety Jamal Adams was named the defensive MVP as he had an interception and a sack.

Saints offensive assistant Joe Brady is reportedly leaving the Black and Gold, but he will not go far. Brady will be the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at LSU.

Full squad work outs are underway for the number one ranked LSU baseball team. Zack Hess will be the Tigers Friday night starter and Eric Walker, who is coming back from Tommy John Surgery, is expected to be the Sunday starter. Coach Paul Mainieri says freshman right-hander Landon Marceaux from Destrehan could be the Saturday starter, but that could change by opening weekend…

Authorities are working to bring back a south Louisiana man suspected of killing his parents and his girlfriend, plus her father and brother. 21-year-old Dakota Theriot was arrested Sunday at his grandmother’s home in Virginia. Theriot’s killing spree started Saturday at a home just outside of Walker and then he went to his parents home in Gonzales. Ascension Sheriff Bobby Webre says some sort of domestic dispute sparked the slayings

An appellate court has blocked a convicted felon who comfortably won an election to be mayor of Ball from taking office, due to an amendment that passed on that same November 2018 ballot that barred felons from running for, or holding office for at least five years after their sentence. Roy Hebron’s attorney, Charles Elliot, says they are disappointed in the ruling.

Hebron’s sentence on a FEMA fraud related charge ended in 2017.

Elliot says they plan on further appealing the decision, because the amendment did not take effect until after Hebron won his election with 56 percent of the vote, so he should be allowed to serve his term.

Opponents argue that the amendment states convicted felons cannot run for OR hold office, thus disqualifying Hebron.

Elliot says this is partly the state legislature’s fault. He noted they added specific, applicable time limits to the unanimous jury verdict amendment that passed…

Elliot adds the town council elected a mayor pro-temp in the meantime, but then did not ask the former mayor, who filed the suit against Hebron, to leave.

The National Geographic Channel will feature Caddo Lake on its critically acclaimed documentary series “Explorer” at 5 PM Monday, the sight of a nasty infestation of giant salvinia. The lake is split between Texas and Louisiana, and Caddo Lake Institute Executive Director Laura-Ashley Overdyke says…

Salvinia is a floating fern that hails from Brazil, and once it takes root it can cover acres of water in just a few days, doubling every week during growing season. Overdyke says it can cause massive damage to ancient local ecosystems in just a short amount of time, in one of two devastating ways.

The documentary will take viewers out on a flat boat through those troubled waters, and across the border into Texas where efforts are underway to create a creature that can go toe to toe with the growing menace.

The Office of Alcohol and Tobacco has certified the LA Wallet app, a digital version of your driver’s license, for booze and Tobacco purchases. ATC Commissioner Juana Marine Lombard says it’s up to restaurants whether or not they want to accept digital IDs, but business that are interested have been training their staff to be ready to accept the app when customers order a beer.

Lombard says they’ve been working closely with the DMV and Envoc, the company that created the app, to make sure it was secure, and could not be manipulated by a particularly craft under age kid to buy alcohol. She says a fake digital ID would be incredibly hard to pull off.

Lombard says digital IDs are the way of the future, and celebrated the fact that Louisiana is the only state to have a digital license that lets you pick up some adult substances.

Full squad workouts are underway for the highly touted LSU Baseball team. The Tigers are ranked either first or second in every major college baseball preseason poll. Coach Paul Mainieri says junior right-hander Zack Hess will be the leader of their pitching staff…

The nearly six-thousand federal workers in Louisiana are feeling a sense of relief this morning as there has been a temporary end to the government shutdown. President Donald Trump signed into law legislation that re-opening the federal government through February 15th, but during that time he expects legislation to arrive on his desk that funds a border wall.

Hundreds of Louisiana families are looking to get back to work now that President Donald Trump has signed funding bills to reopen the government after it was shutdown for 35 days. The president did not get his wish for border wall funding and the legislation approved only keeps government open through February 15th.

Hours before a vote to end the government shutdown, Louisiana Republican Senator Bill Cassidy took to the Senate floor demanding answers from the NFL regarding last Sunday’s missed pass interference call. Cassidy wants to know how the league graded the refs that played a role in the worst blown call in the history of sports…

There is the chance for winter weather in Louisiana early next week. The NFL says it would be too costly to delay the Super Bowl so that the NFC Championship game could be replayed. That’s according to a court filing made by the league in response to a lawsuit that seeks to at least replay a portion of the NFC title game, because of a controversial no-call on a pass interference penalty in the final two minutes of regulation.

Lafayette authorities arrested a 17-year-old student at Comeaux High School who had a gun and what officers say was a large amount of ammunition on campus. Lafayette Police say resource officers began their investigation after learning about a potential threat to the school. Cole Ransonet was booked and charged with firearm possession in a firearm free zone.

The NFL has filed a legal response to a lawsuit filed that seeks to force the league to replay the NFC title game from the spot in which a penalty should have been thrown for pass interference on the Rams. The league says even replaying a few minutes of the game would be too costly and force a delay of the Super Bowl, which is set to be played February third.

A major change is coming with where high school championship games will be played. LHSAA principals voted on Friday to allow “select” schools to host their title games in football, basketball, baseball and softball at sites separate from public schools. So starting next year, select schools with the higher seed in a championship game in football, basketball, baseball and softball, can decide to play that game at their school or at larger venue nearby.

The LSU men’s basketball team seeks to extend its winning streak to nine games when the Tigers visit Missouri tonight at 5 PM. Tremont Waters leads the Tigers as he’s averaging 14 points a game. Missouri is 1-4 in league play. LSU will have to watch out for sophomore guard Mark Smith, who is shooting 48-percent from three-point territory, but he’s questionable with an ankle injury.

Elsewhere, ULM looks to stay unbeaten at home this season when they host South Alabama at 2 PM. UL-Lafayette will face Troy in the Cajundome at 7 PM. The game features two of the top scorers in the Sun Belt, JaKeenan Gant for the Cajuns and Troy’s Jordon Varndado.

At 4 PM in Ruston, Louisiana Tech hosts preseason Conference USA favorite Western Kentucky. The Hilltoppers are just 4-and-3 in league play, but they have nonconference wins over West Virginia, Arkansas, St. Mary’s and Wisconsin. Tech is 4-and-4 in league play.

And at 5:00 in the Smoothie King Center, the Pelicans will host the San Antonio Spurs.

The NFL has reportedly fined Nickell Robey-Coleman for his hit on Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis on that controversial play in which the league told Sean Payton should have been a flag for both pass interference and helmet-to-helmet. Robey-Coleman will lose 26-thousand dollars from his pocket, but he’ll get to play in the Super Bowl next weekend.

Senator Bill Cassidy wants the NFL to answer two questions in the wake of the infamous “no-call.” One, how did the NFL grade the referees’ performance, and two, were the refs biased….

The Sunshine Bridge in St. James Parish will be shut down from Saturday morning until Monday morning for major repair work on the structure struck by a crane barge in October. DOTD says this should be the last time the bridge is shut off to traffice through the end of the scheduled repairs.
