Progressive is lowering their rates by two-percent, Louisiana Farm Bureau has proposed a four-percent decrease and this comes on the heels of State Farm’s announcement last year that they are lowering rates. State Police say an impaired driver is to blame for a wreck that sent three victims flying off the elevated Westbank Expressway in Harvey. All three people died after a fall of about 100 feet. Trooper Monroe Dillon says the three victims were working on a disabled vehicle in the roadway…

Dillon says they arrested 40-year-old Todd Williams of New Orleans and he’s facing numerous charges including three counts of vehicular homicide.

A deadly dispute over a man between a woman and her ex’s new love interest results in a 23 year prison sentence. Kevin Barnhart has the story.

The former warden of the Avoyelles Correctional Center in Cottonport, Nate Cain was sentenced today to 38-months in federal prison. He pleaded guilty in March to two counts of federal wire fraud. His ex-wife, Tonia Bandy, received an eight month sentence. Prosecutors say the duo made fraudulent pruchases with public dollars, including gun parts.

24-7 sports reports that LSU has landed a verbal commitment from John Ehret defensive lineman Patrick Jenkins. Shea Dixon says Jenkins was impressive at LSU camp this month. Jenkins also had offers from Miami, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Colorado.

ULM has a tight athletic budget, but that’s not stopping newly named athletics director, Scott McDonald from wanting to put more money towards improving strength and conditioning, academic support and nutrition. Southwest Louisiana Republicans held the state’s first-ever gubernatorial straw poll over the weekend and U-S Representative Ralph Abraham was the winner. The third-term Congressmen received 180 votes, while Baton Rouge businessman Eddie Rispone got 94 votes. The two GOP contenders are seeking to get into a November run-off with Governor Edwards.

The New Orleans Police Department says one of its officers is stable and alert after he was shot in a shootout with a suspect during a suspected armed robbery in uptown New Orleans this morning. The suspect was shot, while the officer was reportedly hit in the shoulder.

The Strait of Hormuz in the Middle East is an important stretch of waterway for the oil industry and that’s why the Trump Administration has made it clear they will take any measures necessary to keep it open, despite Iran’s attacks on tankers. If the tensions were to spill over into open conflict, LSU Center for Energy Studies Director, David Dismukes, says you would see a noticeable rise in gas prices…

So far we have not seen an increase in gas prices since the attacks occurred last week.

Louisiana’s Congressional delegation says the feds have finally relented and will allow those who suffered damage in the 2016 floods, but received SBA loans, access to Louisiana RESTORE grant money. Senator Bill Cassidy says if you make below 120 percent of the area-median-income, you will be immediately eligible for RESTORE, once the state writes some final rules.

A New Orleans police officer has been shot in the shoulder in Uptown New Orleans. Authorities say a suspect with a “sub-machine gun” was also wounded and taken into custody after police surrounded a home in the area. Another suspect was also apprehended. The officer was rushed to University Medical Center.

A major hurdle has been cleared in efforts to help 2016 Louisiana flood victims who sought a Small Business Administration loan also receive federal aid through the Louisiana Restore program. The U-S Department of Housing and Urban Development has finally released the formal parameters so that flood victims can access the money.

But If you make above 120 percent of the area median income, you won’t be immediately available and will need to file for a hardship waiver, but Senator Bill Cassidy says the barrier to receive that waiver should be set low enough to include people above that income line.

Which means it will take a few months before homeowners actually get this money.

The Trump administration says the United States is willing to take all necessary measures against Iran to ensure the Strait of Hormuz in the Middle East remains open. U-S has blamed Iran for attacking oil tankers in the straight. Pelicans power forward Julius Randle will test free agency after he reportedly denied to pick up the one-year player option on his contract that would have paid him 9-million dollars a year. Randle averaged 21 points and nine rebounds a game and could sign a deal that pays him 15 to 20-million dollars a year.

Kansas native Gary Woodland won the U-S Open holding off Brooks Koepka, who was seeking his third consecutive U-S Open title. Woodland shot a 69 yesterday to finish three strokes ahead of Koepka.

The US Women’s soccer team defeated Chile 3-0 in World Cup play in France yesterday. Carli Lloyd had two more goals.

At the College World Series, Mississippi State scored four in the ninth inning to rally past Auburn five to four. Vanderbilt defeated Louisville 3-1. Today, Arkansas will look to stave off elimination as the Razorbacks faces Louisville. Florida State faces Michigan in a winner’s bracket game.

Over 260 dolphins have been stranded since February 1st in the Northern Gulf of Mexico, three times the usual amount. The increase has prompted NOAA Fisheries to declare an Unusual Mortality Event. NOAA Fisheries Coordinator Dr. Terri Rowles (Rolls) on what to do if you come into contact with any stranded mammals.

NOAA is urging you to call 1-877-Whale-Help if you find a stranded dolphin.

Of the mammals they have been able to perform necropsies on 23-percent have shown skin lesions consistent with fresh water. There are concerns the recent openings of the Bonne Carre Spillway has increased the amount of fresh water and pollutants into the Gulf, which could be contributing factors.  Dr. Erin Fougeres (Foo-gere) with NOAA Fisheries Southeast Region.

Also located in the area where the Dolphins have shown an increase of deaths is where the Deepwater Horizon Explosion impacted the gulf in 2010. Dr. Terri Rowles (Rolls) says previous studies have shown abnormal reproduction rates of mammals from the oil spill.

Of the 260 recorded dolphin deaths Louisiana has reported 89, Mississippi 121, Alabama 32 and Florida 37.

Investigation Discovery is running a four-hour special on Saturday and Sunday night on the unsolved murders of eight women in the Jennings area between 2005 and 2009. Ten years later the deaths are unsolved, and ID Executive Producer Liz Massie says they hope their in-depth look can shake loose some leads…

Not all of the deaths have been ruled murders, and no one was ever charged in the case.

Reports say the women lived “high risk” lifestyles, some of them engaging in heavy drug use or prostitution, but Massie says the special looks beyond the stereotypes to tell the victim’s stories…

The eight bodies were found discarded across backroads and bayous in and around southwest Louisiana.

The series grounds itself by following the sister and niece of one of the victims, Whitnei DuBois. Massie says the two family members and the production team cover the tragedy and track down new leads, which makes for a compelling watch.

The first half of “Death In The Bayou: The Jennings 8″ airs Saturday at 9PM and covers the details of the murders. The second half airs Sunday at 9PM and follows several theories of why the women disappeared.

Police are on the hunt for 39-year-old Oshay Booker who is believed to have murdered his stepfather, former Winnfield Mayor Ronald “Cloud” Goff in a familial dispute Tuesday. Winn Parish Sheriff Cranford Jordan says believes the suspect fled into Texas.

The shooting occurred on Spillway Road in Winnfield, and Jordan says they still aren’t certain exactly what provoked the attack.1

The suspect was last seen driving a Green Honda Pilot.

Jordan says it’s a tragedy for the city, and a personal tragedy as the Sheriff says he knew the former mayor well.

Two years ago today, Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise was one of five people shot when a gunman opened fire on a group of Republican lawmakers while practicing for a charity baseball game. Scalise was struck in the hip and the bullet nearly killed him. In a video message, Scalise says there were many dark days during his long recovery

The father of a teenager who escaped from the Green Oaks Juvenile Detention Center has been arrested. Authorities claim in court documents that Brian McClain helped his son, Kaleb McClain, escape on Saturday. Ouachita Parish deputies finally caught Kaleb McClain yesterday, but not before he allegedly fired shots at a deputy during a high-speed chase.
