The Ragin Cajuns are on a roll and they are four-touchdown favorites to beat South Alabama on Saturday. The Jaguars are winless in conference play and have just one win overall. U-L Lafayette Coach Billy Napier says South Al is better than what their record indicates

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 60-year-old man for allegedly throwing nails and screws on his neighbor’s driveway. 60-year-old Prentice Lamar Tedeton has been charged with three counts of stalking and four counts of criminal mischief. Tedeton denies the accusations.

And it appears the cold weather has led to power outages. Entergy’s outage map shows over eight-thousand people are without electricity on this cold morning, most of the outages are in Tangipahoa and Orleans parishes.

It’s been nearly three decades since David Duke ran for Governor, but the former Klan leaders legacy remains a point of contention, even in this year’s governor’s race. GOP gubernatorial challenger Eddie Rispone called a recent radio ad linking him to David Duke “disgusting”, but Duke says like many Republicans, they now share many of the same policies.

Duke says his position on immigration, welfare and tax policies are similar to what Rispone has spoken about on the campaign trail.

The American Lung Association’s “State of Lung Cancer” 2019 report indicates Louisiana seems to be lagging in five-year survival rates. Kevin Barnhart has the story.

Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser is in Germany this week to promote Louisiana to German officials as a tourist destination and a place to do business. German visitors spent 80-million dollars last year in Louisiana.

And officials say the partially collapsed Hard Rock Hotel in New Orleans will be imploded in January. The plan is to recover the two bodies under the rubble during the process.

Georgia has a tough game this Saturday as the Bulldogs face Auburn. The 9-and-0 Tigers are at Ole Miss. 2011 was the last time LSU was 9-and-0.

The Saints are now ranked fifth in the NFL in rush defense after Atlanta had 143 yards on the ground in their upset win over New Orleans on Sunday. This Sunday, New Orleans faces Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers are not a great running team, averaging 101 yards on the ground. But they lead the NFL in rush defense, allowing 78 yards a contest.

U-L Lafayette is at South Alabama this Saturday. In college basketball last night, the Ragin Cajuns lost their road opener as they fell to T-C-U 98-65. The Horned Frogs hit a school-record 18 three-pointers.

Louisiana Tech dribbled past Wiley College 98-52 as Kalob Ledoux had 18 points. Northwestern State guard Brian White had a career-high 26 points, but the Demons lost to Rice 80-74. And LSU is at V-C-U.

Ouachita Parish Sheriff deputies have charged 28-year-old Tiera Mooney with cruelty to a juvenile after she allegedly left her one-year-old with strangers. O-P-S-O spokesperson Glen Springfield says Mooney knocked on a person’s home, said she couldn’t do this anymore and left the child with the person who answered the door. Springfield says Mooney was later apprehended in a nearby woodeded area…

10-million dollars in hurricane recovery dollars will be used to build new homes for guardsmen and their families who live at Camp Beauregard in Pineville. Louisiana National Guard spokesperson, Colonel Ed Bush, says the families currently live in 40 FEMA trailers that have been up since Hurricane Katrina. He says they hope to build about 50 new homes with the 10-million….

If you think it’s chilly out right now, just wait for tonight: low temperatures are expected to hit the 20s for most of the state, with lows in the low 30s near the coast.

National Weather Service meteorologist Robert Ricks says it’s unusual for a freeze this hard to hit this early in November.

Freeze warnings are in effect from the Arkansas line down to Baton Rouge.

Good news is at least the hard freeze is not expected to stay for long. Ricks says temperatures will be out of the 20s by tomorrow afternoon.

The high wind gusts much of the state is experiencing are also expected to die down by this afternoon.

State Fire Marshal Butch Browning says the freeze means heaters across the state will be turning on tonight, so make sure you check your smoke detector or go get one before night falls.

Browning says his office offers Operation Save A Life smoke detectors for those in need, but it may take a few days to receive your device.

Most home fires in cold weather are caused by space heaters. Browning urges residents to follow space heater safety guidelines…

Louisiana Tech reaches its Forever Loyal campaign goal raising more than $125 million to support University initiatives. The campaign was designed to help face challenges and discover potential. Vice President for University advancement Brooks Hull says growth in the donor base has helped hit the goal.

Hull says almost 70,000 gifts have been given in the campaign with well over 20,000 donors.

Hull says the money will go toward scholarships, faculty recruitment, research and teaching grants, as well as campus building improvements.

Hull says they expect many more contributions through the end of the campaign on June 30th, 2020, which also is the end of the school’s 125th-year celebration.

Ten-million dollars in hurricane recovery money will go towards building new homes to replace the old FEMA trailers that have been at Camp Beauregard in Pineville since 2005. Guardsmen and their families live in these trailers and Louisiana National Guard Colonel Ed Bush says the soldiers will appreciate an upgrade…

There are 40 trailers that are in place at Camp Beauregard. Bush says the  10-million dollars will go towards building about 50 new homes…

A West Monroe woman is charged with cruelty to a juvenile after leaving her one-year-old child with strangers.  Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s spokesperson Glen Springfield says witnesses say the woman, 28-year-old Tiera Mooney, was wet and holding a baby when she knocked on their door and gave them the child and began to leave.

Deputies later located the woman in a small wooded area not far from the residence. Springfield says Mooney was also charged with criminal trespassing for heading to the next-door residence.

The Saints are off today. They still have to be disappointed over the loss to Atlanta. Coach Sean Payton expects the Black and Gold to bounce back this Sunday against Tampa Bay, because he says there’s good leadership on the team…

It remains to be seen if Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore can play this Sunday. He’s reportedly week to week with a hamstring injury.

The Pelicans disappointing start to the season continued last night with a 122 to 116 loss to the Houston Rockets. Brandon Ingram did not play because of knee soreness and Jrue Holiday continues to struggle. He scored 18 points last but was six of 21 from the floor.

Tonight, the Ragin Cajuns are at TCU, while ULM fell to Texas A-and-M 63-57 last night.

LSU’s offense is the envy of nearly every team in college football after spending much of the last decade as a below-average unit. Some of the credit goes to new passing game coordinator Joe Brady, who could receive offers from other schools during the offseason. Coach Ed Orgeron is confident he’ll be able to retain Brady…

Brady signed a three-year contract with LSU last February. The first year of the deal is paying him 410-thousand dollars. He’s the seventh highest-paid coach on the staff.

A south Louisiana high school was placed on lockdown when a student reported a classmate had a weapon. But it turned out the student was holding a stapler. St. John the Baptist Sheriff deputies searched East St. John High School and they found the student. The stapler was reportedly wrapped in a bandanna. The student was arrested on charges of terrorizing.

The latest poll on the governor’s race shows Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards holding a small lead over Republican challenger Eddie Rispone, 48-to-46-percent. The survey paid for by Louisiana TV stations also finds that 39 percent of white voters approve of the job the Governor is doing, but only 28 percent say they plan to vote for him. Hogan says the Democratic Edwards is running into major partisan opposition…

Public hearings in the President Donald Trump impeachment inquiry begins tomorrow. Senator John Kennedy says if the case is properly analyzed, the results will come down to whether the President had a good faith basis for believing in the possible corruption involving former Vice President Joe Biden’s son’s business dealings in Ukraine.
