LSU football has received commitments from several offensive linemen over the last 24 hours, including a Louisiana native. Devin Harper, who played at Calvary Baptist in Shreveport is transferring to LSU from Ole Miss. He’s ranked as the third best interior offensive lineman in the class.

The Tigers also received a commitment from Aliou (ah-LOU) Bah, who has started 23 consecutive games at Maryland and has allowed just one sack in 15-hundred snaps according to Pro Football Focus.

Offensive tackle Sean Thompkins, who was previously committed to North Carolina is now headed to LSU. He’s six-foot-five, 300 pounds and started six games at Baylor last season.

Kiffin also added to the defensive secondary as the younger brother of Mansoor Delane, Faheem Delane, has committed to LSU. The six-foot-one defensive  back is ranked 24-7 sports as the tenth best safety in the transfer portal class and was a backup at Ohio State in 2025, recording 12 tackles in five games.

After a devastating loss on Wednesday night to Kentucky, the LSU men’s basketball team will try again on Saturday when the Tigers host Missouri at 2:30 PM in the Maravich Center. LSU is winless in SEC play, while Mizzou is 3-and-1.

In other games of note, Louisiana Tech is at Jacksonville State. Nicholls looks to rebound from a loss to McNeese as the Colonels host Lamar. McNeese is at UTRGV.  IN the SWAC….Grambling hosts Southern.

Crawfish season is here but it’s early so prices are pretty high. According to the Crawfish App, live mudbugs are over seven dollars per pound, and boiled crawfish are over ten dollars per pound. Laney King, founder of the app, says prices will come down.

And harvesting for crawfish will likely be paused this weekend, because of cold temperatures. State Climatologist Jay Grymes says we could see two, possibly three, light freezes early next week. But he says we are not looking at pipe busting cold.

Governor Jeff Landry, who’s working with President Trump on taking control of Greenland, is in Washington, D-C, as tensions are building over Trump’s desired acquisition of the arctic nation. During an appearance on Fox News, Landry said the East Coast of the U.S. should be concerned with China’s obsession with the Arctic region as he says the Chinese have an impressive fleet of ice breaker vessels.

While Bill Cassidy and his Republican challengers have dominated the news cycle in Louisiana’s U.S. Senate race, there are three Democrats who have entered the race. Andrew Greenstein reports.

According to a report from NOLA.com, FEMA has rejected the state’s request for 52-million dollars in federal money that would pay for the increased security efforts that were in place for last year’s Super Bowl and Mardi Gras celebration.  The 52-million dollars in reimbursement would pay for overtime costs of law enforcement officer and a temporary shelter set up for the homeless who were living downtown.

 

Louisiana has the second highest auto insurance rates in the nation, but they have come down slightly. Value Penguin insurance expert Rob Bhatt says overall premiums are decreasing in Louisiana because of fewer accidents and…

If you are craving crawfish, you can find some, but it will cost you. Right now, the Crawfish App says live crawfish average $7.24 a pound, and boiled crawfish, $10.10 a pound. Founder of the app, Lanie King says there are several reasons crawfish is more expensive early in the season.

Three Democrats are vying for their party’s nomination in the U.S. Senate race. The first to enter, Jamie Davis a row crop farmer from Tensas Parish, expressed concern for immigrants saying those who are legally going through the asylum process need to be treated better…

A new report on auto insurance rates in Louisiana shows both good and bad news. Value Penguin insurance expert Rob Bhatt found Louisiana has the second highest auto insurance rates in the U.S., but premiums are three percent lower in 2026.

Leaders for a Better Louisiana want businesses to know about an expanded tax credit that helps provide high-quality childcare for their employees.  Barry Erwin, the chief policy officer for Better Louisiana, says the new Workforce Child Care Tax Credit is available to businesses which provide top notch childcare within their own facilities or help pay their employees’ childcare costs.

Businesses can claim the credit on their tax returns beginning in 2027.

The beginning of Carnival also means the beginning of crawfish season – and with it, a little sticker shock. According to The Crawfish App, live crawfish is averaging $7.24 a pound, while boiled crawfish is averaging $10.10 a pound. Laney King, the founder of The Crawfish App, says these prices are nothing to worry about.

Today is the last day college football players can get in the transfer portal. Players that are in the portal can still sign with another school after today.

LSU’s latest transfer portal commitment comes from tight end Zach Grace, who did not catch a pass in 24 games with the Oregon Ducks.

Of course, the big signee this week was former Arizona State star Sam Leavitt, who is expected to be the Tigers’ starting quarterback in 2026. Leavitt’s high school coach at West Linn High School in Oregon, Jon Eagle, was a guest on Tiger Rag Radio and talked about Leavitt’s work ethic…

Four Louisiana schools are involved in a point-shaving scandal. Federal prosecutors say UNO, Tulane, Nicholls, and Northwestern State had college basketball players who underperformed so they could receive cash from gamblers.

 

The LSU men’s basketball team is 0-4, and barring a dramatic turnaround, the Tigers will likely fail to make the NCAA Tournament again. Coach Matt McMahon is in his fourth season and his record in SEC play is 14-44. Athletics director Verge Ausberry was on WWL Radio in New Orleans and said a decision on McMahon’s future will be made after the season…

A massive federal basketball point shaving indictment has Louisiana ties. 20 men, including 12 former and four current college basketball players, are indicted in the scheme to rig basketball games for profit. Of those players indicted, six played for a Louisiana program at one point. The indictment was unsealed this morning in Philadelphia and announced by David Metcalf, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Metcalf says this scheme went on for years and it involved several programs.

Cut 4 (10) “…and fixed games.”

Four Louisiana programs are among the 17 programs involved – New Orleans, Tulane, Nicholls and Northwestern State. Metcalf says it started when gamblers Marves (MAR-viss) Fairley and Shane Hennen conspired with former LSU star Antonio Blakeney, who was playing professionally in China at the time, to fix professional games in China; and when those proved to be profitable, they moved the operation stateside and into the world of college basketball.

And those intentional sub-par performances would cause their teams to lose by margins greater than the point spread. Blakeney was not named in the indictment but was indicted elsewhere.

The LSU men’s basketball team lost its fourth straight game last night in heartbreaking fashion. After leading Kentucky by as many as 18, The Tigers only led the Wildcats 74-73 with 1.9 seconds left to play. Kentucky’s Collin Chandler heaved a full-court pass into the hands of Malachi Moreno, who sunk an uncontested midrange jumper at the buzzer to win. Head coach Matt McMahon is devastated for his team.

The Tigers are off to an 0-4 start in SEC play. LSU has been without senior guard DJ Thomas for four straight games as he continues to deal with a lower leg injury.  LSU Athletic Director says on WWL Radio that he believes the team would be off to a better start had Thomas been available.

With the loss to Kentucky, McMahon dropped to 14-44 in SEC play in his four years at LSU. As McMahon’s seat heats up, Ausberry says the LSU administration will wait until after the season to decide his future.
