Tulane faces Ole Miss for the second time this year in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Saturday. The Rebels blew out the Green Wave the first time, winning by five touchdowns. Junior quarterback Jake Retzlaff said the team is looking to get revenge the second time around.

LSU senior cornerback has been named as a First-Team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America after recording 45 tackles, two interceptions and 11 pass breakups on the season. With the honors, Delane becomes a unanimous All-American. Delane only allowed 13 receptions for 147 yards. He did not allow a single touchdown in coverage this season and has seemed to solidify himself as a first-round pick.

Last night, UL-Lafayette dropped the 68 Ventures Bowl by a score of 20-13 to the Delaware Blue Hens. The Cajuns turned the ball over three times in the loss.

The Saints have won two straight and rookie quarterback Tyler Shough’s record as an NFL starter is now 3-and-3. Tight end Juwan Johnson started his college career at Oregon with Shough. Johnson says the two already had chemistry and that believes Shough is going to continue to improve.

The Saints are at home for the last time this season as New Orleans hosts the New York Jets on Sunday at noon.

Florida State graduate assistant Ben Miles, who is the son of former LSU head coach Les Miles, is reportedly set to be hired as Marshall Faulk and Southern’s new tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator. Miles has spent the last two seasons in Tallahassee and began his coaching career in College Station in 2022 as a grad assistant for Texas A&M.

The LSU men’s basketball team plays its first home game since November 21st tomorrow as the Tigers host Southeastern Louisiana at 7 p.m.

At an event where Saints owner Gayle Benson and Raising Cane’s owner Todd Graves donated 100 custom bikes and helmets to the youth of the YMCA, WAFB-TV’s Jacques Doucet asked Benson about the Saints’ recent success.

The Saints have won two games in a row and rookie quarterback Tyler Shough is now 3-3 as an NFL starter. New Orleans is at home for the last time this season against the New York Jets on Sunday. Kickoff is at noon.

Last night, UL-Lafayette dropped to Delaware by a score of 20-13 in the 68 Ventures Bowl to close out the 2025 season. The Cajuns turned the ball over three times as starting quarterback Lunch Winfield threw for 231 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He also lost a fumble.

The New Orleans Pelicans look to win their third straight game tonight as they host Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets at 7 p.m.

LSU men’s basketball is coming off an impressive win against SMU in New Orleans this past weekend. Senior forward Pablo Tamba had one of his best games as a Tiger as he scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Head coach Matt McMahon told Tiger Rag Radio that Tamba is a special player.

The Tigers return to Baton Rouge tomorrow for the first time in a month, where they’ll host Southeastern Louisiana at 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, two more LSU football players entered their names in the college football transfer portal. Redshirt freshman quarterback Colin Hurley, who enrolled at LSU at the age of 16, is entering the transfer portal after being with the Tigers for two seasons. Hurley served as the third-string quarterback behind Garret Nussmeier and Michael Van Buren. Van Buren is now the only scholarship quarterback available for the Texas Bowl.

Freshman offensive lineman Carius Curne also entered the transfer portal. The former four-star played in seven games at both left and right tackle this season.

The Tigers are now up to eight players in the transfer portal.

Tulane had just 282 yards of offense in its first matchup against Ole Miss in the regular season. The two teams meet again Saturday in a College Football playoff game. Green wave quarterback Jake Retzlaff (Rhett-Zloff) says offensive coordinator Joe Craddock told the offense it needed to improve on several aspects in order to give itself a shot at winning…

The Ragin Cajuns turned it over three times and lost to Delaware 20-13 last night in the 68 Ventures Bowl.

 

ULM men’s basketball opened up Sun Belt play last night by losing a tough game to South Alabama, falling to the Jaguars in double overtime 96-82. The Warhawks had an 18-point lead at halftime. The Jaguars scored the final 14 points of regulation to force the first overtime.

Louisiana Tech shot 32-percent from the field and lost to Tulane 61-53.

The former U-S Marine was arrested Friday on his way to New Orleans and authorities say they found guns, a gas canister and body armour in his vehicle.

A federal judge has ruled the state’s social media age verification law approved in 2023 is unconstitutional, because it violates the First Amendment. NetChoice argued before the court that age verification requirements amount to First Amendment violations because they force users to give up too much personal information just to gain access. Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murril says she plans to appeal the ruling…

A 14-year-old honors student was killed when she was struck by a vehicle in Shreveport on Monday. The victim has been identified as Cali Agent and she was an eighth grader at Magnolia School of Excellence. Police say the driver is cooperating with the investigation.

LSU redshirt freshman quarterback Colin Hurley is expected to enter the transfer portal. Hurley served as the third-string quarterback and left the team in November. The Tigers are now down to one scholarship quarterback with Michael Van Buren.

Freshman offensive lineman Carius Curne is also expected to enter the transfer portal after playing in seven games and starting games at both left and right tackle this season.

UL-Lafayette host the Delaware Blue Hens in the 68 Ventures Bowl tonight at 7:30 p.m. Quarterbacks Lunch Winfield and Walker Howard will both be available. Howard helped lead the Cajuns to a 30-27 overtime win over ULM after Winfield exited the game with an undisclosed injury. Desormeaux says he has full confidence in both players to get the job done.

New Southern head football coach Marshall Faulk is set to make 1.2 million dollars over the next three years, earning $400,000 dollars each year. Faulk is now is among the highest-paid coaches in HBCU football, tying Michael Vick’s annual salary at Norfolk State. Faulk also has several performance-based incentives in his contract, one of which would pay him 50,000 dollars if Southern were to win the Celebration Bowl. The contract also includes a $950,000 pool for assistant coaches’ salaries.

ElementUSA announces that it’s investing 850-million dollars to build a rare earth and critical minerals refining facility in St. James Parish. Parish President Pete Dufresne says the facility will lead to the creation of 200 new direct jobs with an average salary of 90-thousand dollars a year, along with more than 550 new indirect jobs.

The facility will help strengthen the U.S. supply chain for materials essential to advanced manufacturing, national defense and energy technologies. Dufresne says ElementUSA chose St. James Parish because the industrial infrastructure is already in place with the Atlantic Alumina plant.

Dufresne says the addition of ElementUSA would enhance the production that’s happening at Atlantic Alumina.

Construction of the new ElementUSA plant is expected to begin sometime in 2027.

A former New Iberia police officer who allegedly plotted a terror attack in New Orleans is currently charged with one count of threat by interstate commerce. But Loyola University law professor Dane Ciolino says many more serious charges are likely forthcoming against Micah Legnon (LEG-nin).

FBI agents arrested the 29-year-old last weekend as he was allegedly loading his vehicle with an assault rifle and body armor. Investigators have linked him to a California-based anti-government group which had been plotting a series of bomb attacks on New Year’s Eve. Ciolino says it will take quite a while before more serious charges are filed, and even longer before an indictment can be handed down.

Ciolino says thanks to modern technology, it’s a lot easier now for the government to make cases like these now than it was several years ago.

Ciolino says given the nature of the charges Legnon will likely be facing, he will likely not be released anytime soon, due to being a potential threat to the community.

Senator Bill Cassidy says the National Defense Autorization Act contains hundreds of millions of dollars for Barksdale Air Force Base in northwest Louisiana. 116-million for a Weapons Generation facility, 18 million for personnel housing and 931-million dollars for continued modernization of the B-52 bomber, which will primarily go to Barksdale.

 

Attorney General Liz Murrill told lawmakers on Tuesday that UnitedHealthcare potentially owes the state between $380 million and $768 million in overpayments for pharmacy costs, which is why her office instructed L-D-H to cancel its contract. She says the state has been litigating with UnitedHealthcare for five years…

Guilbeau says new LSU head football coach Lane Kiffin is expected to hire the running backs coach he had at Ole Miss, Kevin Smith, as Wilson’s replacement.

Former LSU wide receiver’s coach Cortez Hankton has reportedly interviewed with Ohio State. He’s been at LSU since 2022 and helped develop Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas.

And LSU backup quarterback Colin Hurley is reportedly entering the transfer portal. He left the program for personal reasons towards the end of the regular season. Hurley never took a snap at LSU.

 

The Ragin Cajuns wrap up the season tonight by playing the Delaware Blue Hens in the 68th Ventures Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. The six and six Cajuns have dealt with the injury bug all season, and tonight they are missing several starters. Coach Michael Desormeaux says the team will rely on younger starters and knows his players will benefit from the adversity they’ve faced this season.

Kick off is at 7:30 and the game will be televised by ESPN.

LSU gymnastics is ranked 2nd in the Women’s College Gymnastics Association preseason poll behind Oklahoma. The season begins January 10th with a meet in Utah that will also include the top ranked Sooners, fourth ranked UCLA and fifth ranked Utah.

The Alexandria Police Department has arrested a ten-year-old for shooting an eight-year-old on December sixth. At first, investigators determined it was an accidental shooting, but upon further investigation they’ve charge the ten-year old with aggravated second-degree battery and juvenile in possession of a handgun. At last report, the eight-year-old was in critical condition.

Louisiana lawmakers expressed concern about ending a Medicaid contract with UnitedHealthcare on January 1st because the short notice could temporarily leave thousands of Medicaid recipients without coverage, so LDH Secretary Bruce Greenstein told a legislative committee yesterday that they will give UnitedHealthcare through March to comply with the state’s orders to provide documents proving they are in compliance with the contract they have Louisiana. Attorney General Liz Murrill says she’s okay with that…

Frank Wilson will serve as the interim head coach of the LSU Tigers and then he’ll leave for an SEC rival. CBS Sports is reporting Wilson will leave his home state to be the running backs coach at Ole Miss. This will be Wilson’s second stint with Ole Miss as he served as the running backs coach for the Rebels  when Ed Orgeron was the head coach there. He also has a relationship with new Ole Miss head coach Pete Goulding. Goulding was the defensive coordinator of the Roadrunners when Wilson was the head coach at UTSA.

The fifth ranked LSU women’s basketball team had another easy win on Tuesday as the Lady Tigers beat Morgan State 91 to 33. LSU is now 12-0 and they have a couple more easy games in front of them before they finally begin SEC play against Kentucky on New Year’s Day.

LSU gymnastics is ranked 2nd in the preseason poll behind Oklahoma. The season begins next month.

UL-Lafayette plays in its eighth straight bowl game tonight as it takes on the Delaware Blue Hens in the 68 Ventures Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, at 7:30 p.m. Cajuns head coach Michael Desormeaux (DEZ-er-moe) says the bowl game is one last chance for some of his players to play the game of football.

Both teams are 6-and-6. The Cajuns are on a four-game winning streak while the Blue Hens received a bowl berth in their first season on the F-B-S level.

 

Former Ponchatoula star and former LSU Tiger TJ Finley is seeking a seventh-year of eligibility. Finley believes he should get an extra year after an injury shortened season in 2024. This past year at Georgia State, he appeared in seven games and went one and six.
