Two 14-year-old girls have been arrested for terrorizing after authorities were alerted to a Snap Chat conversation in which the girls allegedly discussed shooting up the school to kill one of their teachers. The Girls are students at a Mandeville area High School and St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office says the FBI notified them of the conversation in which the girls discuss their possession of handguns but no guns were found in searches of their homes.

On February 14th and 15^th, the Department of Insurance will hold a hearing on the proposed sale of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana to Indiana-based Elevance Health. Senate Health and Welfare had their meeting and Chairman Patrick McMath says Blue Cross is a local nonprofit while Elevance is a for-profit company that has to answer to stockholders. He says in states that Elevance has acquired a Blue Cross Blue Shield, premiums have gone up…

A man and woman were fatally shot in the front yard of their home in Houma on Friday.  Lieutenant Blake Tabor with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office says The victims were returning home from the Krewe of Hercules parade when gunfire erupted. Tabor says this was a senseless act of violence.

A man and woman were fatally shot in the front yard of their home after returning home from the Krewe of Hercules parade in Houma on Friday. Lieutenant Blake Tabor with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office says authorities are asking for the public’s assistance as the suspects remain at large. He says they will bring justice to those affected by this act of violence.

A Bunkie man is behind bars after he allegedly set fire to a house Tuesday in an alleged attempt to murder the resident. 46-year-old Jefferey Dixon faces attempted murder, arson, violation of a protective order and simple burglary charges. State Fire Marshal’s Office spokesperson Ashley Rodrigue says it was a cooperative effort that put Dixon behind bars the same night the blaze was set.

Dixon was booked into the Avoyelles Parish Jail Tuesday evening.

The rains are coming and Slidell National Weather Service Meteorologist Danielle Manning says there is a slight risk of excessive rainfall so some areas may experience some localized flooding mainly across southern Louisiana on Saturday. And there’s a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms across the immediate coast.

An 18-year-old Louisiana Tech Student has died after being accidentally shot in the chest while in a car with friends. Ruston Police responded to reports of gunshots in the Cane’s drive-thru around 2 a m Friday morning. and found Austin Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest. He was transported to a Shreveport hospital where he died. 19-year-old Matthew Embry was arrested on a charge of negligent homicide. The investigation is ongoing.

46-year-old Jefferey Dixon of Bunkie faces attempted 2^nd Degree Murder and Aggravated Arson charges, he also faces Violation of a Protective Order and Simple Burglary charges in connection with a house fire Tuesday. And while few details were released about the victim, State Fire Marshal’s Office spokesperson Ashley Rodrigue the resident in the home stated they heard a sound, smelled smoke, and found the porch in flames.
