After adding Leavitt, LSU now boasts the No. 1 transfer portal class, according to 247sports.

LSU sophomore running back Caden Durham announced on his social media that he will be returning with the program to play with the Tigers in 2026, despite entering the transfer portal earlier this month. This season, Durham led the team in rushing with 505 yards and also had three touchdowns.

LSU junior center Braelin Moore and sophomore tight end Trey’Dez Green also announced on Sunday night that they will return to play for the Tigers in 2026.

The LSU women’s basketball team secured its first win against an AP top 2 team for the first time since 2008 yesterday after the Tigers defeated No. 2 Texas 70-65. Junior guard Mikaylah Williams was the team’s leading scorer with 20 points in 38 minutes. She said toughness is what the team has focused on since those back-to-back losses.

LSU moved up to No. 6 in the new AP Poll this week.

D1Baseball.com released its preseason top-25 ahead of the 2026 season, and the LSU baseball team will start their title defense as the No.2 team in the nation. The Tigers were only behind UCLA. LSU was ranked as No. 1 in the Perfect Game Baseball Preseason poll last week.

In men’s basketball, Nicholls looks to remain undefeated in the Southland when they travel to Lake Charles tonight to face McNeese State. The Cowboys are on a three game winning streak and have not lost at home since 2023. Tipoff is at 6:30 p.m.

Lane Kiffin and LSU landed a top-100 player in the transfer portal early on Friday from sophomore defensive end Jordan Ross of Tennessee. The 6-5, 245-pounder out of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, is rated as the No. 14 edge rusher in the transfer portal. Coming out of high school, Ross was rated as the No. 1 edge rusher in the country and the No. 9 overall player in the Class of 2024. This season, Ross had 23 total tackles, 1-and-a-half sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery for the Volunteers.

LSU also received a commitment from Illinois redshirt junior transfer wide receiver Malik Elzy. Elzy is unranked in the transfer portal. The 6-2, 215-pounder out of Chicago caught 16 passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns in his three seasons with the Fighting Illini. Coming out of high school, Elzy was rated as the No. 48 wide receiver in the country.

The Tigers also added McNeese redshirt freshman transfer wide receiver Josh Jackson. Jackson was rated as the No. 174 wide receiver in the portal. This season, Jackson caught 20 passes for 258 yards for the Cowboys.

The LSU men’s basketball team looks to pick up their first SEC win of the season tomorrow in Nashville as the Tigers take on No. 11 Vanderbilt at noon. Senior guard DJ Thomas’ status is uncertain after he missed the last two games with a lower leg injury.

The NCAA has denied a sixth-year eligibility waiver requested by Ole Miss senior quarterback Trinidad Chambliss. Earlier this week, Chambliss had re-signed with the Rebels to remain in Oxford for the 2026 season if he was granted an extra year. Ole Miss can still appeal the decision. The Rebels will join LSU in the hunt for a starting quarterback in the transfer portal.

McNeese State basketball looks to win its third straight game on Saturday when the Cowboys host Southeastern at 4 p.m.

Nicholls men’s basketball looks to remain unbeaten in Southland play on Saturday as the Colonels are on the road to take on the University of New Orleans. Tipoff is at 5 p.m.

UL-Lafayette men’s basketball looks to win its second straight game on Saturday as the Cajuns host Troy at noon.

The transfer portal window opened last Friday and LSU has yet to sign a quarterback and it is unclear who Q-B 1 will be in 2026. Washington sophomore quarterback Demond Williams Junior seemed like he could be the guy, but the talented signal caller announced yesterday he’s staying at Washington. The Tigers currently have no scholarship quarterbacks on the roster.

Last night, Miami defeated Ole Miss in the Fiesta Bowl 31-27 to advance to the national championship game on January 19th. Carson Beck scored the game-winning touchdown with a 3-yard scramble with just 18 seconds left on the clock. For the first time in the CFP era, a team will play for a national championship in their home stadium.

A couple of key transfer portal players are in Baton Rouge today for their visits to LSU. Elon redshirt freshman quarterback Landen Clark is among them. Clark is rated as the No. 74 quarterback in the portal. Illinois redshirt sophomore wide receiver Malik Elzy is also visiting the Tigers.

Last night, the twelfth-ranked LSU women’s basketball team won its first SEC game of the season, defeating Georgia in Athens by a score of 8-59. Senior guard Flau’jae Johnson led the team in scoring with 25 points in her return to her home state. Johnson reached 1,800 career points in the win. Her 1,816 points rank ninth in program history.

On Thursday morning, LSU football picked up its 13th and 14th total transfer portal additions to the 2026 cycle. The first commitment of the day came from sophomore defensive lineman Malik Blocton of Auburn. Blocton was rated as the No. 11 defensive lineman in the portal. The second commitment of the day came from red shirt freshman defensive end Jaylen Brown of South Carolina. Brown is unranked in the portal and was coached by new LSU defensive line coach Sterling Lucas last season.

LSU senior safety Jardin Gilbert and freshman defensive tackle Walter Mathis Jr are entering the transfer portal. Mathis had re-signed with LSU just four days ago.

The 2026 LSU baseball team was ranked as the No. 1 team in the Perfect Game Baseball preseason poll. The Tigers are one of nine SEC teams in the Top-25.

The LSU women’s basketball team looks to win their first SEC game of the season tonight as the Tigers take on Georgia in Athens at 5:30 p.m. Senior guard Flau’jae Johnson is probable after rolling her ankle against Vanderbilt.

Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis spoke to the media following the team’s 6-and-11 season. New Orleans holds the eighth pick in this year’s draft. After drafting a talented 2025 rookie class, Loomis believes the front office will be able to take a different approach in the draft than they did last year.

Southern redshirt sophomore running back Trey Holly announced on his social media that he will not enter the transfer portal and will remain at Southern for 2026 to play for new head coach Marshall Faulk.

In men’s basketball tonight, Louisiana Tech hosts Liberty at 6 p.m. and UL-Lafayette hosts ULM at 7:30 p.m.

Ole Miss will look to continue its historic season tonight as the Rebels take on Miami in the Fiesta Bowl at 6:30 p.m.

LSU football picked up its ninth commitment in the transfer portal from redshirt sophomore receiver Eugene “Tre” Wilson of Florida. Wilson was rated as the No. 9 wide receiver in the portal. Wilson had visited LSU for multiple days earlier this week and attended the LSU men’s basketball game against South Carolina last night with head coach Lane Kiffin and linebacker Whit Weeks.

After re-signing with Washington on January 2nd, sophomore quarterback Demond Williams Jr. announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal on Tuesday evening. But he may not be able to leave. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Washington is not obligated or required to turn in Williams’ transfer portal papers, which could end up keeping him with the Huskies.

LSU is reportedly one of the schools interested in Williams.

After taking a multiple-day trip to LSU, Arizona State redshirt sophomore transfer quarterback Sam Leavitt, is visiting Tennessee today and tomorrow. Leavitt will arrive in Knoxville tonight.

The Saints ranked 30th in total defense in 2024 but finished 9th in the league in total defense in 2025, allowing opponents to gain only 300 yards a game. Defensive end Chase Young credits the culture that’s been created by the new coaching staff.

Young had a career-high 10 sacks with New Orleans this season, which was tied for 15th in the NFL.

LSU sophomore transfer quarterback Michael Van Buren announced his commitment to South Florida today. Van Buren started the last four games for the Tigers.

The twelfth-ranked LSU women’s basketball team looks to win its first SEC game of the season against Georgia on Thursday. Senior guard Flau’jae Johnson rolled her ankle against Vanderbilt, but is questionable to play. LSU is looking to avoid its first 0-3 start in SEC play since 1995. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m.

LSU and head coach Lane Kiffin are having a successful Tuesday when it comes to the transfer portal. The Tigers’ first commitment came from junior safety Ty Benefield out of Boise State, who is rated as the No. 2 safety in the transfer portal. This season, Benefield had 105 total tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and two interceptions for the Broncos.

LSU also landed redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Stephiylan (STEPH-eye-lin) Green out of Clemson. Green is rated as the No. 6 defensive lineman in the transfer portal. Green had 25 tackles, two-and-a-half sacks and a pass breakup with the Tigers this season.

LSU men’s basketball looks to bounce back from its first conference loss to Texas A&M tonight as the Tigers host South Carolina tonight at 7 p.m. LSU will be without senior point guard DJ Thomas for the second straight season.

McNeese State basketball defeated Stephen F. Austin 66-64 last night to improve to 12-and-3 and 5-and-1 in Southland play. Freshman guard Larry Johnson led the Cowboys in scoring with 18 points.

The Saints may not have made the playoffs this season, but the team left its fan base with plenty of optimism and hope for next year after finishing 4-and-1 in its last five games. Receiver Chris Olave had to miss the final game of the season against the Falcons after doctors found a blood clot in his lung. Olave says he thought he had a bruised rib after feeling pain near his lung following the game against the Titans.

Olave says he is expected to make a full recovery and he should be able to participate in offseason training beginning in April.

UL-Lafayette redshirt sophomore quarterback Lunch Winfield announced on social media that he will return to the Cajuns in 2026. Winfield passed for 1,555 yards with 11 touchdowns while also rushing for 667 yards and nine touchdowns.

Nicholls basketball defeated Northwestern State 74-72 last night to stay undefeated in Southland play. Senior guard Jaylen Searles led the Colonels in scoring with 18 points.

The Saints’ season ended with a hard-fought19-17 loss to Atlanta. New Orleans finishes with 6-11, but there’s a lot of optimism about what next year will bring. Linebacker Demario Davis says he plans to return for year 15 in the NFL. He believes the Black and Gold have a good nucleus of players on defense.

The Saints finished the season 9th in the league in total defense, allowing only 300 yards a game.

It was a quiet start to the college football transfer portal for LSU, but Lane Kiffin and company are heating up. On Monday, The Tigers received commitments from Utah freshman running back Raycine Guillory, who was rated as the No. 60 running back in the Class of 2025. LSU also received a commitment from Pittsburgh sophomore tight end Malachi Thomas. Thomas caught 13 passes for 192 yards with two touchdowns for the Panthers this season.

The LSU women’s basketball team is off to an 0-2 start in SEC play for the first time under head coach Kim Mulkey. The Lady Tigers followed up a two-point loss to 11th-ranked Kentucky with a 65-61 loss to 12th-ranked Vanderbilt. LSU’s next game is Thursday against 15-1 Georgia. Following the trip to Athens, the Lady Tigers face two teams ranked in the Top 10, Texas and Oklahoma. Mulkey says the stretch may be one of the most difficult in her career.

LSU fifth-year senior quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has accepted an invitation to play in the Panini Senior Bowl on January 31st in Mobile, Alabama. Nussmeier played in nine games this season while battling through injuries.

Multiple media outlets are reporting that star freshman running back Harlem Berry is returning to LSU for his sophomore season. Berry is expected to re-sign an agreement with the Tigers on Wednesday. This season, Berry rushed for 491 yards on 104 carries for two touchdowns. Berry was a consensus five-star and was the No. 1 running back in the country in the Class of 2025.

Offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. is following head coach Lane Kiffin to Baton Rouge. Weis and Kiffin’s relationship dates back to coaching together on the Alabama staff in 2015. Weis also followed Kiffin to Florida Atlantic and to Ole Miss. Weis says Kiffin has a special ability to develop quarterbacks.

Weis will call plays for the Rebels tomorrow as Ole Miss takes on Georgia in the Sugar Bowl at 7 p.m.

Louisiana Tech are Independence Bowl Champs for the fourth time in school history. The Bulldogs overcame an 11-point halftime deficit to defeat Coastal Carolina 23-14. The Tech offense found its groove after a sluggish first-half performance. The Bulldogs had four turnovers of their own, but scored 17 points in the fourth quarter, including a 52-yard pass to wideout Marlion (Mar-lun) Jackson. Quarterback Trey Kukuk (Kew-kuk) totaled over 100 yards through the air and on the ground and says this LA Tech team is defined by resilience.

LSU football is expected to bring back offensive line assistant James Cregg following the end of the Ole Miss season. Cregg was the offensive line coach at LSU during the 2019 season when the Tigers won the Joe Moore Award.

UL-Lafayette men’s basketball fell to 3-and-11 on the year and 1-and-2 in Sun Belt play after losing 63-58 to South Alabama today. Sophomore guard Jaxon Olvera led the Cajuns in scoring with 18 points off the bench.

Former Saints stars Drew Brees and Jahri Evans are among the 15 modern-era finalists for the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame class. WWL Radio Saints analyst Mike Detillier says Brees is a lock to get in after throwing for 80-thousand yards, the second most in NFL history…

New Orleans natives Eli Manning and Reggie Wayne are also finalists. Manning won two Super Bowls as the quarterback of the New York Giants, while Wayne was a great receiver for the Colts and ranks 10th all-time in both receiving yards and receptions.

In their 34-26 win against Tennessee on Sunday, the Saints’ defense allowed the Titans to score 20 points in the first half, but they limited Tennessee to just two field goals in the second half. Head coach Kellen Moore says the team did a much better job of executing in the second half.

The Louisiana Sports Writer’s Association released its 5A All-State team today. LSU signee and Edna Karr senior Richard Anderson was named as the 5A Outstanding Defensive Player of the year. LSU commit and Evangel Christian junior Peyton (Pop) Houston was named as the 5A Outstanding Offensive Player of the year.

Nicholls men’s basketball is off to a 3-and-0 start in Southland Conference play after defeating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last night by a score of 76 -71. Sophomore guard Jalik Dunkley and senior guard Jaylen Searles led the Colonels in scoring with 16 points each. Nicholls is now 4-and-8 on the season.

The 2025 LSU Tigers football season has mercifully come to an end. The Tigers ended what was for all intents and purposes a disappointing season with a 38-35 loss to the Houston Cougars in the Texas Bowl in Houston. What started with dreams of the College Football Playoff ended with a record of 7-and-6. Interim head coach Frank Wilson said he really wanted the win for his team, who had to deal with a lot this season.

Wilson, who was hired as the new Ole Miss Associate Head Coach and Running Backs Coach, said he will be with the Rebels this week in New Orleans for their Sugar Bowl matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs.

LSU men’s basketball rounds out its non-conference schedule tonight as the Tigers host Southern Miss at 7 p.m.

Louisiana Tech men’s basketball begins its final season in Conference USA tonight by hosting UTEP at 6:30 in the Thomas Assembly Center. The Bulldogs are 7-4-, while the Miners are 4-and-7.

McNeese State is at second-ranked Michigan tonight at 6 p.m.

The Saints are finishing 2025 on a high note as the Black and Gold won their fourth straight yesterday, rallying to beat Tennessee 34-26 in Nashville. New Orleans fell behind 13-0 and trailed by ten points at halftime but completed the comeback with two fourth-quarter touchdowns. Coach Kellen Moore says it was their most impressive win of the year…

Rookie quarterback Tyler Shough is now 5-and-3 as an NFL starter as he completed 22-of-his-27 passes for 333 yards and two touchdowns. Shough is now one of the favorites to win the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Former LSU and current Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase became the first NFL receiver in history to start his career with five consecutive seasons of 80 plus catches, 1,000 plus receiving yards and 7 plus touchdowns.
