New Orleans will be without center Eric McCoy and running back Kendre Miller for the rest of the year after both suffered season-ending injuries on Sunday. McCoy tore has a torn biceps and Miller tore his ACL. Head coach Kellen Moore says the team will have to find a way to be productive without them.

The LSU Tigers are 5-2 following a loss to Vanderbilt on Saturday.  The fan base has been very critical of head coach Brian Kelly following the season. Going into the season, the Tigers were considered a national championship contender, but another loss and the Tigers will likely miss out on the college football playoff. Kelly says he understands everyone’s frustration.

Kelly announced that starting left tackle will not play against Texas A&M this week after suffering an ankle injury in Saturday’s game at Vanderbilt.

UL-Lafayette’s basketball team was picked to finish ninth out of fourteen teams in the Sun Belt Conference. Quannas (KWAH-nus) White takes over for the Cajuns after spending eight years at Houston as an assistant under Kelvin Sampson. Last year, the Cajuns finished eleventh in conference play after going 8-10.

McNeese sophomore quarterback Jake Strong has been named this week’s Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week after his productive outing in the 27-0 win over Houston Christian. Strong tied a McNeese single-game record for most rushing touchdowns scored by a quarterback with three. Strong rushed for a career-high 108 yards on 16 carries. Strong also completed 14-of-22 passes for 133 yards and an interception.

The Southeastern football team moved up three spots to No. 19 in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll after defeating Northwestern State 49-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Lions are still right outside of the Stats Perform FCS Top 25, but are receiving votes.

LSU looks to keep its SEC Title hopes going as the Tigers travel to Nashville to face No. 17 Vanderbilt. Head coach Brian Kelly says his team showed positive signs against South Carolina and must carry their momentum into Saturday.

Kickoff at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville is at 11 a.m.

Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen will face the Saints for the first time since being fired by the team in November last year. Allen says that he has lots of great memories in New Orleans, but winning on Sunday remains the main focus.

Kickoff on Sunday at Soldier Field is at noon.

With an early Sun Belt conference loss, ULM will most likely have to win out if they want to contend for the Sun Belt Championship. Head coach Bryant Vincent says each game is a must win moving forward.

The Warhawks will host Troy on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Southeastern will host Northwestern State on Saturday at 4 p.m.  as its homecoming for the Lions. Southeastern is looking to stay hot and the Demons are looking for their first win since week one.

UL-Lafayette will look to get back on track for its homecoming game as the Cajuns take on Southern Mississippi in Lafayette on Saturday at 4 p.m.

After a loss to Southeastern, McNeese is looking for a happy homecoming as the Cowboys host Houston Christian on Saturday at 6 p.m.

LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier showed improvement in throwing the ball in the Tigers’ 20-10 win over South Carolina. Nussmeier said the first few games of the season were tough due to his ab injury, but he says he’s gaining more confidence heading into this week’s game with Vanderbilt.

Head coach Brian Kelly gave an update on several players’ availability ahead of the Tigers matchup with Vanderbilt. Wide receiver Aaron Anderson and offensive lineman Paul Mubenga are probable. Junior linebacker Whit Weeks and senior defensive end Jimari Butler are game time decisions and are questionable with ankle injuries. Senior Defensive tackle Bernard Gooden is doubtful with a bruised collarbone.

Sunday’s matchup between the Saints and Bears will be the first time Dennis Allen faces the Saints since being fired as the team’s head coach in November of last year. Allen’s defense in Chicago has forced 11 turnovers in the last three games, and quarterback Spencer Rattler says Allen poses many challenges as the Bears’ defensive coordinator.

Earlier this week, the New Orleans Pelicans announced that center Kevon Looney has been diagnosed with a proximal tibiofibular ligament sprain in his left knee and he will be re-evaluated in 2-3 weeks. The Pelicans are now down to Yves Missi, Karlo Matkovic and Hunter Dickinson at the center position.

The Pelicans are in Orlando tonight to take on the Magic in their final preseason game at 6 p.m. before starting the regular season next Wednesday.

Junior wide receiver Aaron Anderson missed the South Carolina game due to a nagging knee injury, but head coach Brian Kelly says he expects Anderson to be back for this week’s game at No. 17 Vanderbilt after progressing well in practice earlier this week.

LSU sophomore tight end Trey’Dez Green was named the John Mackey Player of the Week, an award that goes to the top tight end in the nation each week after his dominant performance in the 20-10 win over South Carolina. Green had eight catches for 119 yards with a touchdown. Green is the first tight end to earn the honor since Mason Taylor in week three of the 2024 season.

Vanderbilt’s number-7 scoring offense will be tested against LSU on Saturday, as the Tigers boast the number-5 scoring defense, allowing less than 12 points per game. Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea says the Commodores’ offensive success will come down to execution and patience.

Grambling is now 3-and-3 after a heartbreaking 21-20 loss to Texas Southern. The Tigers had multiple crucial turnovers, including a fumble in the fourth quarter that allowed Texas Southern to run the clock out. Head coach Mickey Joseph says his young team has to clean up their play.

LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier had both ups and downs in the 20-10 win over South Carolina. Nussmeier threw the ball better against the Gamecocks, but still made some poor decisions as he threw two interceptions. Kelly liked the way that Nussmeier attacked but says they need to limit his mistakes.

LSU will kick off against Vanderbilt at 11 a.m. in Nashville.

The LSU women’s basketball team will start their season as the No. 5 team in the country as the preseason AP Poll was announced today. UConn, South Carolina, UCLA, Texas and LSU round out the top 5 teams.

The Tigers will start their season on November 4th when they host Houston Christian at the PMAC.

Despite UL-Lafayette’s 2-4 record, the team can still mathematically win the Sun Belt West Division. Head coach Michael Desormeaux says everything the team wants is in front of them and believes the Cajuns can get it done but says they will have to find a way to finish the close games more consistently.

Desormeaux also announced that junior quarterback Walker Howard will return to practice fully this week after missing the last six weeks after suffering an oblique injury that required surgery.

The Cajuns host Southern Miss on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Last night, former LSU quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders were defeated by the Chicago bears by a score of 25-24 after Bears kicker Jake Moody hit the game-winning field goal as time expired.

LSU football is coming off a 20-10 win over South Carolina, but the Tigers had a few players go down with injuries. Head coach Brian Kelly gave an update on several players’ availability heading into this week’s game at Vanderbilt.

Kelly also said defensive end Jimari Butler suffered a minor ankle sprain and is probable. Defensive tackle Bernard Gooden has a bruised collarbone and is expected to be ready for Saturday.

LSU women’s basketball guards Flau’Jae Johnson and Mikaylah Williams earned preseason All-SEC honors as Johnson was named to the All-SEC First Team and Williams to the All-SEC Second Team. LSU women’s basketball was also picked to finish 3rd in the SEC behind South Carolina and Texas.

The Saints offense had multiple chances to win the game against New England on Sunday, but they came up short after a Juwan Johnson fumble and a turnover on downs on the last drive. Rattler says that New Orleans is better than its record shows and that the offense needs to do a better job of capitalizing on its opportunities.

UL-Lafayette head coach Michael Desormeaux announces that junior quarterback Walker Howard will return to full practice this week for the Cajuns after missing the last six weeks with an oblique injury.

Southeastern football made its 2025 debut in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll at No. 22 this week. The Lions are 4 and 2 with recent wins over McNeese and Texas Rio Grande Valley.

The LSU men’s basketball team was predicted by media members to finish 15th in the SEC out of 16 teams. Last year, the Tigers finished 15th after only winning 3 conference games.

LSU’s defense is focused on South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers. Last year, Sellers rushed for two touchdowns against LSU, including a 75-yarder. Defensive end Jimari Butler says they want to bottle up Sellers and make sure the Tigers can finish tackles.

Saints fans will be glad to know that defensive end Chase Young will make his season debut against the Patriots on Sunday after missing the first five games of the season with a calf injury. Head coach Kellen Moore says Young earned his opportunity to play this week through an impressive recovery.

On Thursday night, Louisiana Tech suffered its second loss of the season after being blown out by Kennesaw State by a score of 35-7.

The Savannah Bananas have released their 2026 schedule, and they will play two games at the Caesar’s Superdome on March 14th and 15th.  Jay Cicero, the president and CEO of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation is pumped that Banana Ball is coming to the Big Easy.

UL-Lafayette travels to Virginia on Saturday as the Cajuns face James Madison at 11 am on ESPN2.

ULM will face Coastal Carolina on the road Saturday at 6 p.m. where the Warhawks look to stay undefeated in Sun Belt play.

The Southern Jaguars square off with Bethune-Cookman on Saturday at 2 p.m. in a neutral-site game that will take place in Daytona Beach.

Grambling State looks to bounce back this week after a loss to Prairie View as the Tigers host Texas Southern Saturday at 6 p.m.

Northwestern State will face Houston Christian in Houston on Saturday at 6 p.m.

LSU is trying to get more production out of its offense ahead of their matchup with South Carolina tomorrow night. Head coach Brian Kelly says a simplified approach might be the key.

The Tigers kick off at 6:45 p.m. in Tiger Stadium.

Last night, Louisiana Tech suffered their second loss of the season after being blown out by Kennesaw State by a score of 35-7. It was the second time this season that the Bulldogs’ defense allowed over 400 yards of offense, but the offense was stagnant all night.

Tulane improved to 5-1 on the season after defeating East Carolina by a score of 26-19. Quarterback Jake Retzlaff completed 26-of-his-36 passes for 347 yards and 2 touchdowns while rushing for 20 yards. The Green Wave are now 2-0 in conference play.

After losing to Northwestern last week, it’s all Sun Belt games the rest of the way for the ULM Warhawks. Tomorrow, ULM is at Coastal Carolina as Coach Bryant Vincent is looking to go 2-and-0 in conference play.

Last night, Parkway defeated Airline in a shootout by a score of 48-43. Benton defeated Haughton by a score of 48-40. Huntington defeated Byrd 34-28 in a back-and-forth game and Loyola Prep defeated Bossier 56-26.

Tonight, the undefeated No. 11 Ouachita Parish Lions will take on the Ruston Bearcats, who are ranked as the No. 3 team in 5A.

The Marksville Tigers, who are ranked 12th in 3A and undefeated, will take on the 4-1 Jena Giants, who are ranked No. 9 in 3A.

LSU junior linebacker Harold Perkins had three tackles and a fumble recovery in last season’s game against South Carolina. Beamer says that Perkins poses several challenges for the Gamecocks’ offense.

The attorney for former LSU receiver Kyren Lacy says the video released by State Police that shows him passing multiple vehicles in a no-passing zone moments before two cars collided head-on in Lafourche Parish last December does not change his position that Lacy did NOT cause that fatal crash. Matthew Ory was a guest on “After Further Review,” on ESPN Baton Rouge radio…

Ory says the video shows Lacy was back in his proper lane before the crash.

UL-Lafayette sophomore quarterback Lunch Winfield led his team to an impressive 54-51 overtime two weeks ago after coming off the bench and accounting for five touchdowns. Winfield is still dealing with an injury he suffered against Marshall, and Desormeaux says that the young QB is trending up, but he says the Cajuns must have a plan for both quarterbacks.

Saints second-year cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week after his two-interception performance in the 26-14 win over the New York Giants. McKinstry is the New Orleans player to earn NFC defensive player of the week since Cameron Jordan in week 17 of the 2023 season.

State Police released video this morning that provides evidence on why former LSU receiver Kyren Lacy was charged with negligent homicide, felony hit and run and reckless operation of a vehicle. The video clearly shows Lacy driving at a high rate of speed and passing multiple vehicles in a no-passing zone on LA Highway 20 in Lafourche Parish moments before the driver of a Kia Cadenza, heading northbound, swerved to the left to avoid Lacy’s green Dodge Charger. When the Kia Cadenza swerved to the left, it collided with a southbound Kia Sorrento. When a State Trooper arrived at the crash scene, witnesses immediately identified Lacy’s Green Dodge Charger as the one that caused the wreck…

During the video, a State Trooper interviews the female driver of the Kia Cadenza who, according to investigators, took evasive action to avoid impact with Lacy’s vehicle…

LSU’s offense ranks 80th in the country when it comes to scoring, averaging just 27 points a game. Head coach Brian Kelly says the offense showed improvements over the bye week, as the Tigers look to keep improving.

Despite facing one of the best defensive fronts in all of the NFL, the Saints’ offensive line did not allow quarterback Spencer Rattler to be sacked once in the 26-14 win over the Giants. Head coach Kellen Moore says he’s impressed with the entire group.
