Lane Kiffin reportedly meets with Ole Miss administrators today to discuss his future in Oxford as LSU and Florida are seeking to hire the head football coach that has led the Rebels to a 10-1 season. Christopher Boan (“Bowen”) with Bookies-dot-com says Ole Miss will pull out all the stops to keep Kiffin in Oxford.

LSU sophomore quarterback Michael Van Buren came into Baton Rouge to serve as the backup to senior Garrett Nussmeier in hopes to eventually become the starter. Now, Van Buren is making his second straight start this weekend against Western Kentucky. Even with all the coaching changes, Van Buren is glad he ended up at LSU.

Last night, UL- Lafayette football defeated Arkansas State by a score of 34-30 to improve to 5 and 6 on the season. The Cajuns’ postgame hopes were in jeopardy as UL was 2-and-6 at one point, but the team is now one win away for being bowl eligible. Head coach Michael Desormeaux (DEZ-er-moe) says he’s proud of his team.

Louisiana Tech leads the Conference USA and is number-16 in the nation in most penalties with 76 through ten games. Cumbie said that the Bulldogs have to do better of being disciplined, but said the team may be getting called for more penalties since they are leaving Conference USA for the Sun Belt next year.

The Baton Rouge Advocate is reporting that LSU made its first move in responding to Brian Kelly’s lawsuit today by giving new school president Wade Rousse authority to send him a written notice of termination.

The LSU Board of Supervisors has called for a special meeting tomorrow to discuss the lawsuit filed by Brian Kelly against LSU as the former Tigers football coach is seeking his entire 54-million-dollar buyout. Piper Hutchinson, with the Louisiana Illuminator, says once the board members emerge from executive session, they will announce their next steps in the Kelly buyout dispute…

LSU interim head football coach Frank Wilson told the media on the SEC coaches’ weekly media teleconference that quarterback Garrett Nussmeier is doubtful for the Tigers’ last game in Tiger Stadium this season against Western Kentucky.

Falcons starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. suffered a season-ending knee injury in last week’s loss to the Carolina Panthers. In order to stop veteran backup quarterback Kirk Cousins this Sunday, Saints head coach Kellen Moore says the team will have to rely on a collective defensive performance.

New Orleans released wide receiver Brandin Cooks today. After not finding a trade partner at the trade deadline, Cooks will become a free agent. Cooks was originally drafted by the Saints in 2014 until he was traded to New England in 2017.

Last night, the LSU men’s basketball team remained undefeated to improve to 4-and-0 after defeating Alcorn State by a score of 107-81.

On Monday, sources say LSU sent a private plane to Oxford, Mississippi and flew several members of Kiffin’s family down to Baton Rouge so that his ex-wife, Layla, could tour the city.

The No. 5 LSU women’s basketball team improved to 5-and-0 on the season after defeating Tulane in New Orleans last night by a score of 101-71. LSU became just the second SEC team to score 100-plus points in five straight games, tying the streak with LSU’s 2022 national championship team.

LSU men’s basketball looks to remain undefeated tonight as the Tigers return to the floor where they will host Alcorn State at 7 p.m.

LSU interim head coach Frank Wilson and backup quarterback Michael Van Buren earned their first win leading the Tigers Saturday. Starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has fought through injuries all season, and Wilson is unsure who will get the start in the team’s final home game this weekend.

LSU junior linebacker Whit Weeks’ status is still up in the air after missing his fourth game with an ankle injury. The Tigers host Western Kentucky in their last home game of the season on Saturday at 6:45 p.m.

The Pelicans dropped to 2-and-12 on the season after suffering their sixth straight loss last night to the Oklahoma City Thunder by a score of 126-109. Rookie Jeremiah Fears led scoring with 24 points.

Tonight in men’s college basketball, the Cajuns are at Stanford, Northwestern State visits San Francisco, Grambling is at San Diego and Southern faces Washington in Seattle.

LSU football ended its three-game losing streak this Saturday after defeating Arkansas 23-22. Just before the game, quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was ruled out with an abdominal injury, so sophomore Michael Van Buren got his first start, and he completed 21 out of 31 passes for 221 yards and a touchdown. He didn’t throw any interceptions but was sacked four times. Van Buren says his first SEC win is one he will not soon forget.

With the win, LSU is now bowl eligible. The Tigers wrap up their home schedule Saturday against Western Kentucky; kickoff is at 6:45. Their final regular-season game is a week later at Oklahoma.

The No. 5 LSU women’s basketball team will take a short drive down Interstate 10 to New Orleans this evening as the Tigers take on Tulane tonight at 6 p.m.

The Pelicans dropped their fifth straight game and the first since firing Willie Green last night after losing to the Golden State Warriors by a score of 124-106. Trey Murphy led New Orleans in scoring with 20 points. James Borrego coached his first game as the interim head coach and says he will not take the opportunity for granted.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. will be out for the foreseeable future after suffering a potentially season-ending knee injury during Sunday’s 30-27 loss to the Carolinas Panthers. The Falcons travel to New Orleans this Sunday to face the Saints and veteran backup quarterback Kirk Cousins is expected to get the start.

Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes is the first former LSU pitcher to win a Cy Young Award, winning it for the National League. Skenes led Major League Baseball with a 1.97 ERA and had 216 strikeouts. At LSU, Skenes helped the Tigers win a national championship in 2023 and was named the College World Series Most Outstanding Player. LSU Coach Jay Johnson is thrilled to see Skenes having success in the Majors.

LSU interim head coach Frank Wilson says the team will play both Garrett Nussmeier and Michael Van Buren at quarterback this weekend. Senior wide receiver Zavion Thomas says Nussmeier is a great teammate and that he and Nussmeier have a great relationship both on and off the field.

Louisiana Tech dropped to 5-and-4 after a heartbreaking 25-24 loss to Delaware last Saturday. Two of the Bulldogs’ four losses have been by one point. Head coach Sonny Cumbie says he believes his team will respond the right way this week.

The LSU women’s basketball team stayed unbeaten on the year and improved to 4-and-0 after defeating Charlotte last night by a score of 117-59. It’s the fourth straight game where the Tigers have scored over 100 points. Junior guard MiLaysia Fulwiley led LSU in scoring with 22 points.

The LSU women’s basketball team returns to Baton Rouge tonight as the Tigers host the Charlotte 49ers. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.

The LSU offense did not see much success against Alabama in the 20-9 loss; but when it did, the Tigers moved the pocket so that quarterbacks Garrett Nussmeier and Michael Van Buren had more time to throw. Frank Wilson says Nussmeier was more comfortable with the rollout plays.

ULM football has lost five in a row heading into Saturday’s game against South Alabama. The Warhawks have to win the rest of their games in order to make it to a bowl game. Head coach Bryant Vincent says his team hasn’t lost faith in one another.

Brian Kelly’s legal team has filed a lawsuit against LSU in an effort to get the school to pay the former Tigers football coach the full buyout of 54-million dollars. Wilson Alexander is covering the story for The Advocate Newspaper and says the suit claims that LSU is telling Kelly he has not been formally terminated, and they will seek to fire him for cause…

If LSU can prove they fired Kelly for cause, then they would not owe Kelly the full 54-million-dollar buyout.

The suspensions of seven U-L Lafayette football players for their roles in Saturday’s postgame brawl with Texas State players are not sitting well with Dave Schultz, the host of the Locked On Sun Belt podcast. Schultz notes that it was the Texas State players who started the fight, but the Cajuns got the brunt of the suspensions – including senior safety Tyree Skipper, who was suspended for the rest of the season. Schultz says Sun Belt Commissioner Keith Gill gave no explanation in how he decided which players to suspend and for how long, including Skipper’s suspension, and he says Gill owes the players, the coaches, the schools and the fans more details.

LSU senior cornerback Mansoor Delane has been named as a semifinalist for the 2025 Bednarik Award, which is awarded to the best defensive college football player of the year. Delane has 37 tackles, eight pass breakups and one interception this season.
