Four-star wide receiver Brayden Allen out of Lafayette signed with LSU yesterday on day one of the early signing period. Allen was committed to Oklahoma going into last weekend, but he decommitted the night Lane Kiffin was hired. Allen says there’s a lot to like about Kiffin’s offensive system.

Allen will join the Tigers in the summer as a late enrollee.

One of LSU’s top-rated commitments and the No. 1 defensive lineman in the country, Richard Anderson, out of Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, is set to formally sign with the Tigers on Thursday after a clerical hold up kept him from signing on Wednesday. Anderson’s revised documents will be sent to LSU on Thursday.

The No. 5 LSU women’s basketball team looks to stay undefeated on the season as the Tigers travel to Durham, North Carolina to face the Duke Blue Devils tonight at 8 p.m.

Tomorrow night is the semifinals of the high school football playoffs. In Division Two non-select, Plaquemine is in the semifinals for a second straight season, but LHSAA Network’s Spencer Verrett says the Green Devils have a touch matchup against top-seeded North DeSoto.

Louisiana Tech junior defensive back has been named Conference USA Co-Defensive Player of the Year after intercepting three passes, breaking up five passes and recording a team-high 92 tackles. Fields will not play his senior season for the Bulldogs as he entered the transfer portal on Wednesday.

The LSU men’s basketball team defeated Boston College in overtime last night by a score of 78-69 to remain undefeated on the season. Junior guard DJ Thomas led the Tigers in scoring with 23 points while also dishing out seven assists.

LSU new head coach Lane Kiffin’s contract is seven years, worth 90-million dollars plus. But Kiffin says his personal wealth was not in consideration when taking the LSU job. He says he was mainly concerned about enough NIL funding to help attract the best players. Athletics director Verge Ausberry says the LSU fan base has stepped up…

Kiffin will be focused on signing a recruiting class this week, as a three-day early signing period begins tomorrow. Kiffin, who declared himself the “Portal King” at Ole Miss for his ability to sign players out of the transfer portal, says LSU is committed to financially supporting his rosters each year.

LSU four-star wide receiver Kenny Darby and three-star offensive lineman Jalan Chapman have decommitted from LSU today.

Lane Kiffin has landed his first commitment as the LSU head coach as 6-6 and 240-pound four-star tight end JC Anderson has flipped his commitment from Ole Miss to LSU. Anderson is rated as the No. 11 tight end in the nation according to 247Sports.

After being hired by LSU yesterday, Ole Miss has announced that offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. is going to coach the Rebels during the team’s playoff run. Weis took a plane with Kiffin to Baton Rouge on Sunday and was signed to a three year deal worth 1.9 million dollars annually on Monday.

After missing the 2024 season with a season-ending ACL injury, LSU forward Jalen Reed will miss the rest of the 2025 basketball season after tearing his left Achilles in the 71-62 win against Drake on Friday.

Flecther Mackel with WDSU TV in New Orleans is reporting that Ed Orgeron is a serious candidate for the Tulane head coaching job and that he is making a strong push for the job.

On his first full day on the job, Kiffin hired an offensive coordinator, Charlie Weis Junior, who followed Lane down to Baton Rouge from Oxford. Five other former assistant coaches at Ole Miss have also been hired at LSU.

LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker has reportedly interviewed for the head coaching job at Tulane. Baker played for the Green Wave from 2000-2003 as a linebacker. If Tulane does not hire Baker, he could remain as the D-C for LSU.

Pro Football Hall of Famer and New Orleans native Marshall Faulk was introduced as Southern’s head coach yesterday. Faulk faces a tall task, as the Jaguars won just two games this past season. He says the program will need financial help in order to be successful and urged Jaguar Nation to show up for the players when it matters most.

The McNeese State Cowboys dropped to 6-and-2 on the season after being upset by Incarnate Word by a score of 71-67 in the team’s Southland conference opener. Garwey Dual led the Cowboys in scoring with 18 points.

The LSU women’s basketball remained at No. 5 in this week’s AP Poll. Mulkey’s team did come in at the top spot in the first NET Rankings of the season.

In the first release of the men’s basketball NET Rankings, LSU came in at the No. 19 spot.

Lane Kiffin was formally announced as LSU’s 37^th head coach this afternoon. Kiffin has signed a 7-year deal worth 91-million-dollars. In his introductory press conference, Kiffin says that LSU stood out.

The Southern Jaguars introduced former NFL running back and Pro Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk as its next head coach today. Faulk, who was a running backs coach at Colorado becomes the 22^nd head coach in Southern program history. The New Orleans native says he is happy to be back in Louisiana.

Jon Sumrall has announced that he’s leaving Tulane to take the head coaching job at Florida. Unlike the Lane Kiffin saga at Ole Miss, there was no drama at Tulane as to whether Sumrall would be able to finish the season with the Green Wave. Tulane Athletic Director Harris notes that Sumrall’s situation is very different from Kiffin’s.

The Green Wave hosts North Texas on Friday for the American Athletic Conference Championship.

ULM finished its season on an eight-game losing streak with a hard-fought overtime loss to the UL-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns. After winning five games in his first season in Monroe, Bryant Vincent only won three games this year, but he believes the future still looks bright for the program…

LSU will close out the season at 8th-ranked Oklahoma tomorrow. Despite a disappointing season, the Tigers are looking to play spoiler for a new SEC rival on the edge of the College Football Playoffs. Junior linebacker Whit Weeks says the first step will be dealing with experienced Sooners quarterback John Mateer.

Ole Miss is set to make a decision on head coach Lane Kiffin’s future with the program tomorrow. The Rebels are in Starkville for the Egg Bowl today and a win for Ole Miss would guarantee a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Last night, the Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Baltimore Ravens by a score of 32-14 in quarterback Joe Burrow’s return. Burrow threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns and has now won his last eight starts, marking a franchise record for most consecutive wins by a starting quarterback.

Louisiana Tech will close out the season at Missouri State tomorrow. The Bulldogs already clinched a bowl appearance, but head coach Sonny Cumbie says his team still has a lot to play for. LA Tech is just 1-and-4 on the road this season, and he says this is their last chance to play road spoiler.

LSU men’s basketball looks to stay undefeated tonight as the Tigers face Drake in the first round of the Emerald Coast Classic in Niceville, Florida. Tipoff is at 8:30 p.m.

LSU women’s basketball is in St. Thomas for the Paradise Jam Tournament this weekend. The Tigers face Marist tonight in its first matchup of the tournament at 7 p.m. LSU looks to make it seven straight games of scoring more than 100 points.

Former LSU and current New England Patriots left tackle Will Campbell is being placed on Injured Reserve after being carted off in the third quarter of the 26-20 win over Cincinnati. Campbell will miss at least the next four games with a knee injury, but there’s hope that he will be able to return before the regular season ends.

The Quarterfinals of the Louisiana High School football playoffs kick off Friday. LHSAA Network’s Spencer Verrett says the chaos of the D-1 non-select bracket has lived up to the hype. 26^th seeded Barbe upset Northwood and West Monroe, but Verrett says their Cinderella run will have to go through second-ranked Neville.

Interim head coach James Borrego will look to make it two wins in a row as the Pelicans host the Memphis Grizzlies in their final NBA cup matchup tonight at 7 p.m.

Tulane is ranked 24^th in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings and just two wins away from a playoff berth as the top ranked group of five school. A win at home over 1-and-10 Charlotte Saturday means the Green Wave will host an American Conference Championship game. Their most likely opponent is one-loss North Texas.

College football writer Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports says the signs are pointing toward Lane Kiffin leaving Ole Miss and heading to LSU. But Dellenger says there are no guarantees Kiffin will be the next head coach at LSU…

Dellenger reports Florida officials have started to pursue other candidates and Ole Miss administrators have begun to reach out to potential replacement coaches.

The Louisiana High School Football quarterfinals are on Friday. In Division II select, the defending state champion Archbishop Shaw Eagles travel to Shreveport to face the Loyola Prep Flyers. Verrett says Loyola Prep has a dangerous pass attack, but believes the Eagles’ secondary could cause problems for junior quarterback Bryce Restovich and his offense.

With the holidays upon us, that means flu activity is ramping up and Louisiana leads the nation in reported cases, according to the CDC.  Dr. Julio Figueroa with LSU Health New Orleans says if you’re experiencing flu-like symptoms, the very best thing you can do is to stay home and to stay away from people who are susceptible to illness.

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin spoke to the media on Monday for the first time since last Wednesday. The Rebels are in Starkville to face Mississippi State this Friday for the Egg Bowl and Ole Miss administration is set to make an announcement regarding Kiffin’s future this weekend. Although an announcement is coming soon, Kiffin says he has eyes on finishing the season out with his team.

The New Orleans Saints have released kicker Blake Grupe today. The move comes after Grupe missed two field goals in the 24-10 loss to the Falcons. Through 11 games, Grupe only made 18-of-26 field goals and was 5-of-11 from 40 yards or longer.

With the release of Grupe, New Orleans is signing former LSU kicker Cade York to the team’s practice squad after his tryout today. In his two years in the NFL, York has made 33-of-45 field goals with a long of 59 yards.

LSU senior cornerback Mansoor Delane has been selected as one of three finalists for the Jim Thorpe Award, which is presented annually to the best defensive back in college football. Delane is joined by Ohio State safety Caleb Downs and Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore as finalists. Delane has two interceptions and 10 pass breakups on the season.

Former Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Super-Bowl winning offensive lineman Jahri Evans have been named Semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026. Brees headlines a group of five first-year eligible players that also includes Philip Rivers, Frank Gore, Larry Fitzgerald and Jason Witten. Evans was a finalist for the 2025 class, but didn’t make the final cut.

Southeastern senior defensive lineman Kaleb Proctor was selected as the Southland Conference Player of the Year after recording 38 tackles and 8 sacks on the season. Senior linebacker KK Reno was selected as the Southland Defensive Player of the Year after 119 tackles, 1 sack and a forced fumble. The Lions will face Illinois State in the first round of the FCS playoffs on Saturday at noon.

After scoring just 13 points against Western Kentucky, the LSU offense is going to face the No. 6 scoring defense in the country when the Tigers play No. 8 Oklahoma this weekend. Interim head coach Frank Wilson says he doesn’t see a weakness in the Sooners’ defense.

Kickoff in Norman on Saturday is at 2:30 p.m.

In the Saints’ 24-10 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, the only touchdown for New Orleans came in the second quarter, when safety Justin Reid returned an interception for 49 yards. The loss dropped the Saints’ record to 2-and-9. Reid says they are not giving up on the season.

After Saints kickers’ Blake Grupe’s two missed field goals against the Falcons, New Orleans is holding a tryout with former Ravens kicker Justin Tucker and former LSU and Cleveland Browns kicker Cade York.

Louisiana Tech is now bowl eligible after the Bulldogs earned their sixth win of the season on Saturday with a come-from-behind victory over Liberty, dousing the Flames 34-28 in overtime. Tech trailed by three touchdowns in the third quarter to pull off one of the biggest wins in the Sonny Cumbie era…

The Bulldogs will be at Missouri State for the regular season finale.

Former LSU and current Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is set to make his return this Thursday against the Ravens after missing several weeks with a toe injury.

Former LSU and current New England Patriots left tackle Will Campbell is reportedly believed to have suffered an MCL Sprain and is going on the injured reserve list. Although he’s expected to miss extended time, Campbell’s injury isn’t believed to be season-ending.

Lane Kiffin reportedly meets with Ole Miss administrators today to discuss his future in Oxford as LSU and Florida are seeking to hire the head football coach that has led the Rebels to a 10-1 season. Christopher Boan (“Bowen”) with Bookies-dot-com says Ole Miss will pull out all the stops to keep Kiffin in Oxford.

LSU sophomore quarterback Michael Van Buren came into Baton Rouge to serve as the backup to senior Garrett Nussmeier in hopes to eventually become the starter. Now, Van Buren is making his second straight start this weekend against Western Kentucky. Even with all the coaching changes, Van Buren is glad he ended up at LSU.

Van Buren said that he will stay with the program through the coaching changes.

Last night, UL- Lafayette football defeated Arkansas State by a score of 34-30 to improve to 5 and 6 on the season. The Cajuns’ postgame hopes were in jeopardy as UL was 2-and-6 at one point, but the team is now one win away for being bowl eligible. Head coach Michael Desormeaux (DEZ-er-moe) says he’s proud of his team.

Louisiana Tech leads the Conference USA and is number-16 in the nation in most penalties with 76 through ten games. Cumbie said that the Bulldogs have to do better of being disciplined, but said the team may be getting called for more penalties since they are leaving Conference USA for the Sun Belt next year.

The Bulldogs kick off against Liberty in Ruston on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Baton Rouge Advocate is reporting that LSU made its first move in responding to Brian Kelly’s lawsuit today by giving new school president Wade Rousse authority to send him a written notice of termination.
