A potential return to Baton Rouge for Will Wade is gaining momentum. According to ESPN Baton Rouge’s Matt Moscona, Wade met with NC State officials on Wednesday.

This comes as LSU is working to bring in McNeese athletic director Heath Schroyer for a senior administrative role. LSU’s head coaching job isn’t open, but both LSU President Wade Rousse and Schroyer hired Wade at McNeese.

Tiger Rag reported about two weeks ago that LSU was trying to reunite Schroyer and Rousse in Baton Rouge. NC State is expected to make a strong push to keep Wade, with a competitive offer likely coming within the next 24 hours.

Wade’s buyout is currently $5 million, but it will drop to $3 million after April 1.

Former UAB men’s basketball associate head coach Ryan Cross has been hired as the new head coach at ULM. Cross previously spent eight seasons with the Warhawks from 2012 to 2020 as an assistant under Keith Richard. Cross will be formally introduced at a press conference on Thursday morning.

Spring football is officially underway in Baton Rouge and coach Lane Kiffin has plenty of work ahead with a revamped roster. One player that has jumped out to Kiffin is rising junior tight end Trey’Dez Green. Kiffin knows that the 6-7 mismatch has all the athletic ability in the world, but believes his ultra-elite mindset is what separates him from many.

Last night, the LSU baseball team picked up a 15-5 run-rule win over Louisiana Tech baseball to get back in the win column. After being pulled from the lineup following a four-strikeout performance against Oklahoma last Saturday, senior first baseman Zach Yorke bounced back in a big way. Yorke went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs. The Tigers will host 19th-ranked Kentucky this weekend.

At LSU pro day, in front of NFL scouts, coaches and executives, quarterback Garrett Nussmeier looked like the Nussmeier from the 2024 season when he threw for four-thousand yards. Nussmeier was zipping the ball and completed 69 of his 72 passes. Nuss was hampered by an abdomen injury last season, suffered on the second day of training camp. His injury contributed to an underwhelming performance on offense and it also hurt his draft stock. The Lake Charles native says the experience will only make him better…

UL-Lafayette looks to get back in the win column tonight after being swept by Texas State this weekend as the Cajuns host Southeastern Louisiana at 6 p.m.

The winningest football coach in Northwestern State history has died. Sam Goodwin, who led the Demons to 102 wins from 1983 through 1999, died last Friday at the age of 82. Former Northwestern State Sports Information Director Doug Ireland says not only did Goodwin overachieve as the coach of the team, he also brought out the best in players who had been overlooked in high school, as evidenced by the number of Demons who went on to play on Sundays after their college careers.

The ULM baseball team looks to get back in the win column tonight when it hosts Northwestern State at 6 p.m.

The Pelicans are in New York to take on the Knicks tonight at 6:30 p.m. It will be the first time Jose Alverado faces his former team since being traded in February. A loss tonight would eliminate the Pelicans’ chances of making the play-in.

LSU baseball dropped its second consecutive SEC series to begin conference play, and the Tigers also lost one of their weekend starting pitchers to injury. Cooper Moore had to leave Friday’s loss to Oklahoma with an arm injury. Coach Jay Johnson says an MRI showed inflammation, and so they will let that calm down…

LSU hosts Louisiana Tech tomorrow night.

Tomorrow, the UL-Lafayette baseball team will look to get back in the win column against Southeastern after being swept by Texas State over the weekend.

Following a road series loss to South Alabama, ULM will also aim to bounce back when they host Northwestern State Demons tomorrow night at 6 p.m.

Over 15 football players participated in LSU’s Pro Day workout on Monday, but the headline performer was cornerback Mansoor Delane. Delane, who did not run the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, clocked a 4.35 today, strengthening his case as a top-ten draft pick.

Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier looked sharp at Pro Day, completing 69 of 72 passes with his father, Doug – offensive coordinator for the Saints – in attendance.

Even though the job’s not done for the LSU Lady Tigers –it is the end of the road in Baton Rouge for one the greatest players in program history. Yesterday’s blowout win over Texas Tech marked the final game at the P-MAC for senior guard Flau’Jae Johnson. Tears welled up throughout the building when Coach Kim Mulkey took her out of the game early in the fourth quarter with LSU leading by 50. Mulkey said after the game that even though she could have left after last year, Flau’Jae chose to stay and finish what she started in Baton Rouge.

The second-seeded LSU women’s basketball team begins its national title run tonight as the Lady Tigers face 15th-seeded Jacksonville at 5 p.m. In each of LSU’s last four deep NCAA Tournament runs, the Tigers received consistent production from their post players. While this year’s team may not have an Angel Reese or an Aneesah Morrow, senior Flau’jae Johnson says the bigs are embracing the challenge of elevating their play in the postseason.

The Southern women’s basketball team has officially booked their ticket to the NCAA Tournament. The Lady Jags secured a 65-53 win over Samford last night in the “First Four” match and will advance to play top-seeded South Carolina on Saturday at noon.

The LSU baseball team picked up a 7–1 win over No. 8 Oklahoma on Thursday night. Sophomore pitcher Casan Evans delivered a dominant performance, striking out a career-high 15 batters while allowing just one walk over 7.2 innings. Evans became the first LSU pitcher to record 15 strikeouts in an SEC game since Paul Skenes accomplished the feat against Auburn in 2023. Evans says his big night was a result of strong preparation.

The 25th-ranked UL Lafayette baseball team looks to stay hot this weekend in San Marcos as the Cajuns open their series against Texas State tonight at 6 p.m.

Louisiana Tech heads west for a weekend series against New Mexico State, with first pitch set for 7 p.m. tonight.

The McNeese men’s basketball season came to an end in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, as the Cowboys fell 78-68 to fifth-seeded Vanderbilt this afternoon. McNeese led by as many as 11 in the first half.

LSU women’s basketball’s Friday night matchup with fifteenth-seeded Jacksonville will mark the first NCAA Tournament appearance for four freshmen. Senior Flau’jae Johnson, who is competing in her fourth and final NCAA Tournament, says she’s offering as much advice as possible to the younger players.

The Southern women’s basketball team takes on Samford in the “First Four” of the NCAA Tournament tonight at 6 p.m. With a win, the Lady Jags would advance to play top-seeded South Carolina in the first round on Saturday at noon.

The LSU baseball team plays its SEC home opener tonight against eighth ranked Oklahoma. The Tigers fielding percentage ranks 14th in the SEC and Coach Jay Johnson says the Sooners like to pressure you with their speed….

The 25th-ranked UL-Lafayette baseball team defeated Houston 6-3 in 10 innings last night, to extend its win streak to three games. The Cajuns improved to 16-5 overall and will look to stay hot this weekend at Texas State.

ULM also picked up a win, defeating UNO 17-12 to secure its fifth straight victory. All but one batter in the starting lineup produced a hit for the Warhawks as the team combined for 14 hits and 13 RBI. ULM will travel to Mobile this weekend to face South Alabama.

According to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, LSU football coach Lane Kiffin is hiring former Tennessee national championship quarterback Tee Martin as an offensive analyst. Martin spent the last five seasons in Baltimore where he coached the Ravens wide receivers from 2021-2022 and MVP Lamar Jackson and the quarterbacks from 2023-2025.

Last night, LSU baseball earned a 7-1 victory over Grambling. The Tigers’ pitching staff showed improvement, striking out 15 batters while issuing just three walks. LSU will face eighth-ranked Oklahoma in its SEC home-opening series, starting tomorrow at 7 p.m.

Southeastern baseball pulled off the biggest upset of the night on Tuesday with a 3-0 shutout win over Oklahoma. The Lions only gave up four hits in the win.

Lats night, Louisiana Tech baseball extended its winning streak to four games with a 5-4 victory over Central Arkansas. Monroe native Zeb Rudell hit a three-run home run in the win.

Saints veteran defensive end Cameron Jordan made some notable comments regarding free agency on Terron Armstead’s “The Set” podcast on Monday. Jordan said that just because he loves the city of New Orleans doesn’t mean the city or the organization has to love him back. Jordan currently ranks 19th on the all-time sack list with 132. While he could become one of the few defensive linemen to spend his entire career with one team, The Baton Rouge Advocate’s Matt Paras believes Jordan’s priorities have shifted from where they were a couple of years ago.

25th-ranked UL-Lafayette baseball begins a week-long trip in Texas tonight, facing Houston at 6:30 p.m. before heading west to take on Texas State in a weekend series.

The LSU baseball team looks to build momentum ahead of their SEC home-opening series against Oklahoma as the Tigers host Grambling State tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Louisiana Tech looks to extend its win streak to four games tonight when the Bulldogs host Central Arkansas at 6 p.m.

Southeastern baseball will host eighth-ranked Oklahoma tonight at 6 p.m.

The ULM baseball team completed a series sweep of Texas State this past weekend to open conference play. The Warhawks scored 36 runs in the series, and head coach Ford Pemberton says he was proud of the way his team battled at the plate.

The Warhawks will host New Orleans tomorrow at 6 p-m.

Saints veteran defensive end Cam Jordan made notable comments about his free agency during an appearance on Terron Armstead’s “The Set” podcast last night. Jordan said that just because he loves the city of New Orleans doesn’t mean the city or the organization has to love him back. The 36-year-old is coming off a productive 2025 season in which he recorded 10-and-a-half sacks.

The Saints added depth to their running back room today. New Orleans is signing Ty Chandler to a one-year deal worth about $1.2 million. Chandler spent the four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings and missed most of the 2025 season with a knee injury.

Ruston’s Ahmad Hudson, a consensus five-star recruit and the nation’s top-rated tight end, has narrowed his college list to six schools, which include LSU, Texas A&M, USC, Miami, Nebraska, and Missouri.

LSU sophomore gymnast Kailin Chio was named SEC Specialist of the Week after earning three perfect tens against Arkansas last Friday.

The LSU Tigers are hosting the first and second rounds of the NCAA women’s basketball tournament. LSU will face Jacksonville Friday at 5 p-m. If the Lady Tigers beat the Dolphins, Coach Kim Mulkey’s squad will play the winner of Texas Tech-Villanova.

After winning their third straight Southland Conference championship last Wednesday, the McNeese men’s basketball team learned its position in the bracket yesterday. They’re the number-12 seed in the South Region and will face the fifth-seeded Vanderbilt Commodores Thursday afternoon in Oklahoma City. Cowboys head coach Bill Armstrong says the team is going to enjoy the ride.

Conference USA and the Sun Belt both included Louisiana Tech in their newly released 2026 football schedules. Tech has been working to negotiate a buyout with Conference USA to make its move to the Sun Belt official for the 2026 season, but the league hasn’t agreed to terms. Dave Schultz, the host of the “Locked On Sun Belt” podcast, says the dispute never should have reached this point.

The situation is now in the courts after the U-L system filed a lawsuit on Tech’s behalf earlier this month. A hearing is set for Thursday, and Schultz says he would be surprised if the outcome doesn’t clear the way for Tech to join the Sun Belt in 2026.

D-1 Baseball and Baseball America has dropped LSU out of their Top 25 polls after the Tigers their SEC opening series to Vanderbilt. It’s the first time since 2024 LSU will not be ranked. The Ragin’ Cajuns are ranked 25th by D-1 baseball after beating South Alabama to begin Sun Belt play.

The Saints feel really good about the additions they’ve made to their team this week. The headliner is former Jacksonville Jaguars running back and Jennings native Travis Etienne (AY-chan). Coach Kellen Moore says the 27-year-old is coming off his third one-thousand-yard rushing season, and he also caught a career-high six touchdown passes.

Etienne grew up a New Orleans fan and remembers going to his grandparents’ house every Sunday to watch the black and gold. He says being able to play for his home-state team is a dream come true.

Louisiana Tech is listed on both the Conference USA and Sun Belt’s 2026 football schedules. A pending lawsuit filed by the University of Louisiana System against Conference USA on behalf of Louisiana Tech seeks to allow the school to leave the league and join the Sun Belt for the 2026-27 athletic year.

LSU baseball begins SEC play tonight against Vanderbilt. The Tigers are ranked 13th in the SEC in hitting with a team .291 batting average. Former LSU star and SEC Network college baseball analyst Todd Walker believes the Tigers are a better hitting team than they’ve shown.

Louisiana Tech men’s basketball defeated Missouri State 69-66 on Friday to advance to the Conference USA Tournament championship game on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

The McNeese State men’s basketball team is going back to the NCAA Tournament. The Cowboys secured their third consecutive Southland Tournament Championship with a dominant 76-59 win over Stephen F. Austin yesterday. Senior guard Javohn Garcia erupted for a career-high 31 points in the win. Garcia says the Cowboys were not going to let the Lumberjacks end their 27-game winning streak at home.

The McNeese State women’s basketball team will try to clinch its bid to the NCAA Tournament today when it takes on Stephen F. Austin at 4 p.m. in the Southland Tournament Championship game.

The Lady Techsters are now just two wins away from earning their first bid to the NCAA Tournament since 2011 after defeating Delaware 72-43 yesterday.

Louisiana Tech men’s basketball opens Conference USA Tournament play against Middle Tennessee today at 5:30 p.m.

The number-13 LSU baseball team ended its two-game losing streak Tuesday with an 8-4 win over Creighton. After missing the last 15 games with a hand injury, LSU senior outfielder Chris Stanfield made his return to the lineup. Coach Jay Johnson says having Stanfield in the lineup makes the Tigers better.

Johnson says whether or not Stanfield will start this weekend is still up in the air.

In high school basketball, twelfth-seeded Northside pulled off the biggest of the day yesterday with a 65-61 win over top-seeded Madison Prep in Division II select.

In Division I select, top-seeded John Curtis defeated Catholic High 47-39 yesterday to advance to the state title game.

Tonight in Division I Non-select, top-seeded Zachary and fourth-seeded Denham Springs square off against each other while sixth-seeded Central will take on second-seeded Ruston.
