When starting center Braelin Moore was injured on the first play of the game versus Louisiana Tech, sophomore DJ Chester came into the game to replace him. Head coach Brian Kelly says the staff is comfortable with playing Chester if Moore cannot go this week.

The SEC has announced its conference schedule for the 2026 baseball season. LSU baseball will travel to Nashville to face Vanderbilt in the first week of SEC play before hosting Oklahoma in Baton Rouge. Other key opponents include Tennessee, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Georgia on the road. In addition to Oklahoma, LSU will host Kentucky, Texas A&M, South Carolina, and Florida. Former LSU head coach Paul Manieri will return to Baton Rouge for the first time since being the Gamecocks head coach on May 1st.

Saints tight end Juwan Johnson had the opportunity to tie the game in the final seconds against the Cardinals with a crucial drop in the endzone. Johnson says that even though New Orleans came up short, the team needs to prioritize its focus on the next game.

CUT 20 (19): “New Orleans happy.”

The Saints will take on the San Francisco 49ers in New Orleans on Sunday at noon. 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is questionable with a toe and shoulder injury, and star tight end George Kittle was placed on the injured reserve after injuring his hamstring against Seattle.

Louisiana Tech head coach Sonny Cumbie announced that he has not named a starting quarterback for this week’s game versus New Mexico State. The Bulldogs played both quarterbacks, Trey Kukuk and Blake Baker against LSU.

LSU football begins SEC play this weekend as it hosts Florida on Saturday. The Tigers had an underwhelming performance in its 23 to 7 win against Louisiana Tech. Head coach Brian Kelly says the performance falls on multiple people.

Kelly announced positive news regarding the health of center Braelin Moore and tight end Trey’Dez Green. Moore is listed as day-to-day with an ankle injury and Green will be questionable with a sprained MCL.

CUT 16 (22): “the week.”

Saints starting safety Julian Blackmon seriously injured his labrum in the regular season opening loss versus the Arizona Cardinals. Blackmon is expected to miss significant time. Blackmon injured the same labrum with the Colts in 2024, which required surgery at the end of the season.

New Orleans right tackle Taliese (Tah-lee-ESS-ay) Fuaga went down in the third quarter versus the Cardinals with a knee injury.  Moore says he will be considered day-to-day

UL-Lafayette bounced back from an ugly two-point loss to Rice to beat McNeese 34 to 10. But the Cajuns threw for only 86 yards. Head coach Michael Desormeaux says the passing game will need to improve, especially as it travels to Columbia to face the No. 25 Missouri Tigers in a sold-out game.

LSU senior cornerback Mansoor Delane was a key contributor in the 17 to 10 win over Clemson. Delane admits that the win was a great start for the 2025 season, but the Tigers won’t be satisfied until it brings back some hardware home.

The Saints will be without two key starters for Sunday’s regular-season opener against the Arizona Cardinals. Coach Kellen Moore said defensive end Chase Young and offensive guard Trevor Penning will be out. Moore also said that cornerback Alontae Taylor will play after battling a groin injury.

UL Lafayette will host McNeese State on Saturday at 7 p.m. in what will be former Catholic high standout Daniel Beale’s first true start at quarterback. The Cajuns will be without quarterback Walker Howard for 6 to 8 weeks after an oblique injury.

UL-Monroe will face number twenty-one ranked Alabama in Tuscaloosa at 6:45 p.m. Central. The Warhawks are looking to pull off the upset in T-Town just like it did in 2007 when it defeated the Crimson Tide 21 to 14 in Nick Saban’s first year coaching Alabama.

Grambling State faces the top-ranked team in the nation in Ohio State, Saturday at 2:30 p.m. central, which will be the first time the Tigers play an AP number one team.

Tulane travels to Mobile to take on South Alabama Saturday at 6 p.m. Central.  The Green Wave will play both transfer quarterbacks, Jake Retzlaff and Brenden Sullivan.

Number 22-ranked Nicholls hosts West Georgia Saturday at 6 p.m. Central in what the Colonels hope to be a shake back game after blowing a second-half lead to Troy last week.

Southeastern Louisiana looks to bounce back at Murray State Saturday at 6 p.m. after being shutout by Louisiana Tech in week one.

Northwestern State will face Minnesota Saturday in Minneapolis at 11 a.m. Central after getting its first win since 2022 last week versus Alcorn State.

LSU baseball coach Jay Johnson has signed a 7-year deal worth $23.45 million, which will keep the two-time national champion skipper in Baton Rouge until the 2032 season. Johnson is set to make $3.05 million this season which will scale up $100,000 dollars each year of the contract. With the extension, Johnson will become the highest-paid coach in college baseball, surpassing Tennessee’s Tony Vitello.

The New Orleans Saints will be tasked with facing a talented Arizona Cardinals defense led by safety Budda Baker and linebacker Josh Sweat in its first regular-season game. Spencer Rattler says that the entire offense will have to play with good tempo while starting fast.

UL Lafayette head coach Michael Desormeaux has ruled quarterback Walker Howard out with an undisclosed injury for this week’s game against McNeese. Desormeaux will turn to former Catholic High standout Daniel Beale at quarterback, which will be his first true start. Desormeaux also expects sophomore Lunch Winfield to get some reps to a capacity on offense.

The UL Ragin Cajuns started off the season with a very disappointing 14-12 loss against Rice. The Cajuns, who were Sun Belt Conference favorites, suddenly find themselves with limited margin for error for the rest of the season. Desormeaux (DEZ-er-moe) says that he knows the Cajuns will turn things around.

After a 4-3 vote, the Louisiana Supreme Court denied former LSU head coach Ed Orgeron’s application for rehearing on his divorce settlement. Orgeron will still have to pay his ex-wife, Kelly Orgeron, more than 8 million dollars.

The LSU defense held Clemson’s talented offense to only 261 total yards for the entire game. Kelly says there are a few characteristics that a successful defense has to have in order to play as one.

LSU senior quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was named the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week after completing 28 of 38 passes for 232 yards and a touchdown in the Tigers’ 17-10 win against Clemson.

LSU senior cornerback Mansoor Delane was named the Chuck Bednarik Player of the Week after totaling an interception and two pass breakups in the win against Clemson. Delane only allowed one catch in forty coverage snaps.

LSU baseball announces it will play in the “Live Like Lou Jax Classic” which takes place in Jacksonville at VyStar ballpark from February 20th through the 22nd of 2026. LSU will face the Indiana Hoosiers on Friday at 1 p.m. Central. The Tigers will take on Notre Dame on the Saturday at 11 a.m. central time and then round things off on Sunday at 2. pm. against UCF.

ULM football travels to Tuscaloosa this weekend to face number-21 Alabama after a 29 to 0 victory over Saint Francis last week. Head coach Bryant Vincent says he wants to see major strides from his team every week, but especially in week two.

Southern football head coach named Cam’Ron Mccoy as the starting quarterback this Saturday against Alabama State in the Jaguars’ home opener. The move comes after sophomore Jalen Woods was ruled out with a head and neck injury he suffered against Mississippi Valley State.

LSU opened its season with a 17 to 10 win over Clemson in a defensive battle. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney gave the LSU Tigers a grade of 65 out of 100 for their performance last Saturday. Kelly clapped back, saying it was a low score considering his team dominated Clemson in the second half…

LSU came in at number three in the Associated Press Rankings this week, which is the highest ranking LSU has been since 2019.

Nicholls State football entered the FCS Top 25 poll this week at the number 22 spot. Nicholls enters the top 25 after a win over number 4 Incarnate Word and a loss to Troy despite not being ranked in the preseason polls.

For the first time ever, the Grambling State Tigers will face an Associated Press number 1 team. The Tigers will be tasked with facing the number 1 Ohio State after the Buckeyes took care of Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns this past weekend.

During the holiday weekend, the Saints made a shocking roster move, and head coach Kellen Moore says it was a rather difficult one.

The New Orleans Saints announced the hiring of Thomas Dimitroff as a consultant. Dimitroff has an extensive background in NFL front offices, most notably with the Atlanta Falcons, where he served as General Manager while helping lead the team to a Super Bowl 51 appearance.

ULM senior defensive back D’arco Perkins-McCallister was named as the Sun Belt Conference defensive player of the week after an impressive performance against Saint Francis. Perkins-McCallister totaled 8 tackles, including two sacks in the shutout win.

Two Louisiana Tech football players earned Conference USA Weekly Honors this week. Linebacker Mekhi Mason was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week and punter John Hoyet Chance was selected as the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week.

LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier is excited to showcase a new-look offense full of transfer additions. Some of the weapons that Nussmeier will have on the offensive side are tight ends Bauer Sharp and Trey’Dez Green. Nussmeier says that he believes in both players’ abilities to execute, particularly in the receiving game.

The New Orleans Saints’ wide receiver room is set after acquiring Devaughn Vele (VAY-lay) from Denver and Trey Palmer off waivers. Head coach Kellen Moore says that both players bring valuable experience but have some catching up to do.

CUT 29 (14): “for everyone.”

The ULM Warhawks kick off their season tonight as they host Saint Francis. ULM ranked 128th out of 133 teams in passing offense last season, averaging just over 134 yards in the air. Redshirt sophomore quarterback Aidan Armenta will take control of the Warhawks offense. Vincent says that Armenta has all the attributes needed to help the team go far.

Northwestern State football looks to get its first win since November of 2022 tonight as it faces Alcorn State at 7 p.m. Head coach Blaine McCorkle enters his second year with the Demons after going winless in his first season. Redshirt freshman Abram Johnston will lead the Demons’ offense at quarterback after starting in three games last season.

Quarterback Spencer Rattler was named as the New Orleans Saints starter for the 2025 season. Rattler says that he is ready to get to work and believes the Saints are making the right decision.

CUT 26 (11): “right now.”

The New Orleans Saints claimed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer off of waivers. Palmer is a Kentwood, Louisiana native and spent his college career at both LSU and Nebraska.

The Kansas City Chiefs are welcoming back running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire to the team’s practice squad after he was waived by the New Orleans Saints this week. Edwards-Helaire was selected in the first round by Kansas City in 2020 and went on to win two Super Bowls with the team.

USA Team Captain Keegan Bradley selected former LSU star golfer Sam Burns to play in the 2025 Ryder Cup, which will take place in Farmingdale, New York.

The South Course at New Orleans’ City Park will host a LIV Golf tournament June 26th through the 28th of next year. LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil said fans attending the tournament can expect a different environment than most golf settings.

Louisiana Tech opens up its season on Saturday as it hosts Southeastern Louisiana. Senior linebacker Kolbe Fields says opposing teams will have trouble when they play in Ruston.

The Independence Bowl Foundation and Radiance Technologies announced the extension of the title sponsorship of the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl through at least the 2027 Bowl season, with a three-year option to extend the agreement through 2030.

New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore announced that second-year quarterback Spencer Rattler will be the team’s starting quarterback for week one against the Arizona Cardinals. Moore says that he feels like Rattler’s offseason and preseason games were more consistent.

The New Orleans Saints are battling with the injury bug, especially at the offensive line position. The Saints acquired Asim Richards and a 2028 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round pick from the Dallas Cowboys.

Moore says the Saints will have to overcome the injuries and plan accordingly as the regular season approaches.

The LSU offensive line battle has been one of the most important stories leading into the opener versus Clemson. LSU has narrowed down its remaining starting jobs on the offensive line to left guard and right tackle. Kelly says he could see the Tigers playing several guys on the offensive line against Clemson.

Louisiana Tech football will start its season Saturday as it hosts Southeastern Louisiana.  Head coach Sonny Cumbie said that he will not name a starting quarterback until later this week. The quarterback battle is between Evan Bullock, Trey Kukuk and Blake Baker.  Cumbie says the energy and way that the team rallies around each QB will be factored in.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced that former LSU running back Josh Williams has made the 53-man roster. Williams signed with the team as an undrafted free agent and earned his spot from an impressive preseason.

LSU announces that quarterback Garrett Nussmeier will wear the coveted No. 18 jersey this season, which is given to a team leader with great character. Nussmeier will be the first quarterback to wear the special number since 2003, when Matt Mauck helped the Tigers win a national championship. Senior defensive end Jack Pyburn says that Nussmeier embodies the right traits to lead the offense.

Cut 7 (12) “…he is a gamer.”

Multiple LSU football players have said that this is the closest team they have ever been a part of, even despite having so many new transfers. Senior wide receiver Zavion Thomas says the players are always hanging out off the field.

Cut 20 (20) “…pick it up.”

Nicholls started its season on Saturday with an impressive win over 4th-ranked Incarnate Word. The defense led the way, holding the Cardinals to 204 total yards while forcing four turnovers in a 20 to 6 win. Ty Marsh scored the first touchdown on a 29-yard interception return for a touchdown late in the first quarter. Marsh says he appreciated the Colonel faithful.

Cut 16 (15) “…hoping to get more.”

The Southern Jaguars started off its season with a 31 to 14 loss to the NC Central. The biggest story from the loss was the bright spot in former LSU running back Trey Holly. The sophomore running back broke free for an 80-yard touchdown in his first game back playing since 2023. Holly says the Jaguars came into the game with too much confidence.
