TJ Finley is expected to make the start again at quarterback on Saturday when the Tigers take on fifth ranked Texas A-and-M. The Aggies rank number one in the SEC in total defense.

Also on Saturday, ULM hosts the Ragin Cajuns. U-L Lafayette Coach Billy Napier has reportedly spoken with South Carolina about their head coaching vacancy.

The high school football playoffs are set to begin on Friday and with the state in a Modified Phase 2, LHSAA executive director Eddie Bonine has sent a memo to schools telling them they must follow the new 25-percent capacity restricition that has been put in place. Bonine also said in the letter that schools could be fined or receive other penalties for not following COVID-19 guidelines.

The college basketball season is underway. Tonight, LSU will tip off the season by facing S-I-U-Edwardsville in a game that will be held in St. Louis. The Tigers have a team that’s expected to be among the best in the SEC.

In action yesterday…Northwestern State fell to 14th ranked Texas Tech 101-58. Nebraska defeated McNeese 102-55. Southeastern Louisiana fell to Purdue-Fort Wayne in overtime 67-63, Grand Canyon knocked off Grambling 69-53 and Nicholls defeated UC Davis 101-94 as Ty Gordon had 23 points and nine assists.
