Former Governor Edwin Edwards has been admitted to the hospital again this time with double pneumonia, according to his wife Trina’s Facebook post. 93-year old Edwards spent the weekend in the hospital and was discharged Sunday after he experienced breathing difficulties. He tested negative for COVID and pneumonia over the weekend.
The FDA approves emergency use for the first self-test for COVID-19 that provides results in 30 minutes. Assistant for Translational Research at LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine Dr. Lucio Miele says while the at-home test is another tool in the fight against the coronavirus it’s not the end all be all because it only detects one gene in the virus
Miele says the test requires a prescription.
Pfizer and Moderna are reporting effectiveness rates of 95-percent for their COVID vaccines. Senator Bill Cassidy says there are 20-to-40 million doses of each vaccine already available. He says health care workers will be among the first to get the vaccine…

The state health department reported 22-hundred new COVID-19 cases today bringing the state’s total to nearly 210-thousand. Louisiana is also reporting 28 more coronavirus deaths
