The state health department reported 13-hundred new coronavirus cases today bringing the state’s total to nearly 190-thousand. Governor John Bel Edwards says the number of COVID patients hospitalized also increased by 32 and the positivity rate on tests is also going up…

The total number of COVID-19 patients in the hospital is 684 and that’s up from 596 on November first.

One of several deployment ceremonies for the 256th Brigade of the Louisiana National Guard was held in Lafayette today. Approximately 2,000 soldiers are involved in the yearlong Middle East mission in the fight against ISIS. General Keith Waddell of the Louisiana National Guard says guardsmen have been extremely busy this year, assisting with pandemic response and hurricane recovery.

In St Mary Parish the family of a 15-year-old boy Quawan Charles who was found dead near Loreauville in a sugarcane field wants answers to the cause of the teen’s death. The family says they were told Charles drowned and now they’re working for an independent autopsy. The family reported Charles missing on Friday, Oct. 30 in Baldwin. His body was found on November 3rd by a law enforcement drone.
