The Climate Initiatives Task Force met today to begin discussing how Louisiana could meet the Governor’s goals of reducing the state’s greenhouse gas emissions. Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority Chair Chip Kline says the task force will work to plot out a feasible path towards reducing emissions and provide education on how it can be done.

Edwards has a goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.

Kline admitted it will be a challenge to balance the state’s oil centric economy with the need for burning less oil. For example the Shell Convent refinery closure is set to kill 700 jobs in St. James Parish and upend the local government’s ability to pay the bills. LSU Economist Dr. Loren Scott though is optimistic that once the pandemic ends a buyer will be found for the state of the art facility…

Along with giving the future hall of famers his worst ever loss the Saints picked Brady off three times and suffocated the Bucs’ previously high flying offense to complete the season sweep and take first place in the NFC South.
