Republican lawmakers appear set to hold a vote on returning to a special session imminently. LaPolitics.com publisher Jeremy Alford says frustration with the Governor’s current public health emergency is the driving factor here, and it is likely that some legislative effort will be made to override it. But he cautions that even if they manage to file an effort many lawmakers feel the issue will have to be settled in court.

Tropical Storm Beta looks like it’ll dump a few inches of rain on the state as it works its way from the Texas state line across south Louisiana. State Climatologist Barry Keim says the rain will be on and off for the next few days but as long as Beta doesn’t produce huge amounts of rain over a short period of time, Louisiana should be able to handle its rainfall
