According to The Advocate Presidents from schools of the Southeastern Conference President will meet this afternoon, and it is expected they will discuss plans for fall athletics.  The SEC’s 14 athletic directors are holding a regularly scheduled meeting today.  If they decide on whether to postpone or cancel the football season, it is possible, but not certain, that the presidents could vote on the motion this afternoon.

The father of East Baton Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Nick Tullier, the deputy who was severely injured in July of 2016 during a police ambush, made a surprise announcement that the family has moved from Houston back to Baton Rouge. Tullier had been living in an apartment near a hospital during his rehabilitation. James Tullier says it was a coordinated effort by the East Baton Rouge and Livingston Parish Sheriffs Offices.

The state reports an increase of 562 new cases of COVID-19 for Monday and 24 more fatalities from the virus. Hospitalizations for the state show a decrease of one for a total of 1,382 and vent usage increased by five to 215.

The state’s legislative auditor debunks the claims of duplicate COVID-19 cases. Suspicion increased when a Facebook post from Red River Parish’s homeland security office claiming that state numbers were higher because of duplicates. Legislative Auditor Daryl Purpera says the investigation shows the numbers reported by the Louisiana Department of Health are not reflecting duplicates.

LDH says there is a one to two percent margin of error with reporting, and Purpera says the department’s processes are producing the most accurate data.
