The LSU Board of Supervisors unanimously approves a resolution to remove Troy Middleton’s name from the school’s library. Middleton is a former university president who wrote about keeping black students separated from white students. LSU Black Alumni Chapter President Katrina Dunn called the library’s namesake an affront to black students.

The Middleton family opposed the decision calling him a war hero who should not be judged solely by his segregationist views.

The state Health Department says nursing homes who fail to test regularly for COVID could be hit with sanctions. State Health officer Doctor Jimmy Guidry says testing can protect people who are vulnerable to this disease…

The state failed to reach its goal to test all nursing home residents and workers by the end of May.

Today is Juneteenth, a commemoration of a milestone in the ending of slavery in the United States. The date is getting more recognition this year. LSU Chief Diversity Officer Dereck Rovaris says today is a celebration of the final group of enslaved African Americans learning of their emancipation.

A former LSU football player has filed a federal lawsuit against the university in an effort to get back on the football team. The unidentified player was suspended last month for at least one year for allegedly having non-consensual sex with a female student. Attorney Kristina Supler says LSU determined the student was guilty and never gave the player a chance to confront and cross-examine his accuser and other witnesses…
