The state department of education expects more childcare centers will re-open as more parents are head back to work. Assistant Superintendent Jessica Baghian says their guidance calls for new procedures for pick up and drop off, separating children into smaller groups and requiring workers to wear masks. The Governor’s proclamation that loosens the restrictions on many businesses is in effect today, but one mayor in Sabine Parish has told his citizens he doesn’t plan to actively enforce it. Kevin Barnhart has the story.

More than a foot of rain fell in an area between Ponchatoula and Madisonville last night, flooding homes in Tangipahoa and St. Tammany parishes. High water rescues were needed in some in Northshore neighborhoods. Parts of St. Charles Parish also report flooding and more rain is in the forecast today.
