At the NFL draft combine in Indianapolis, former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow put to rest rumors that he would not play for the Bengals if Cincinnati selected him with the top overall pick. Burrow spoke to a large group of reporters this morning…

Some NFL reporters have speculated Burrow would pressure Cincinnati not to draft him. Burrow says he’s looking forward to speaking with the Bengals about their plans on offense.

LSU Football Coach Ed Orgeron has reportedly promoted Kevin Faulk to running backs coach. Faulk, who is the school’s all-time leading rusher, will replace Tommie Robinson, who is taking the same job at Texas A-and-M. Faulk has served as the Tigers director of player development.

And remember the controversy surrounding Odell Beckham Junior and the handing out of cash after the national championship game. Wide receiver Justin Jefferson says he donated his money handshake to his church.

The Pelicans conclude their three-game Mardi Gras road trip in L-A tonight taking on Lebron James and the Lakers. L-A has won the two previous meetings, but Zion Williamson did not suit up for New Orleans in those two contests. Anthony Davis has had his way against his old team, averaging 44 points a contest in two previous games played between the two teams.

In college baseball tonight, ULM hosts Southeastern Louisiana at 6 PM. The Warhawks are 5-and-1, while the Lions are 3-and-3. The two teams will play again tomorrow at 4 PM in Monroe.

Also tomorrow, LSU hosts Louisiana Tech. Northwestern State is at UL-Lafayette, McNeese hosts Missouri at 3 PM. Yesterday, Nicholls scored three runs in the ninth inning to beat McNeese four to three. Xane Washington had the walk-off hit.

In Saints news, the Black and Gold have promoted defensive assistant Michael Hodges to linebackers coach. And Saints safety Vonn Bell is mourning the loss of his brother who died in a car accident.
