With two losses last week, the LSU basketball team is now in a three-way tie for first place. The Tigers gave up 99 points in a loss to Vanderbilt last Wednesday and then allowed Auburn to make 18 three-pointers in a one-point overtime loss to Auburn on Saturday. LSU hosts Missouri tomorrow.

Louisiana Tech also lost two games on the road last week. The Bulldogs were tied with North Texas for first place, but they are now tied for third place following the two defeats. The Bulldogs host F-I-U on Thursday.

After a big six-point win over Sam Houston State on Saturday, Nicholls is all alone for second place in the Southland. The Colonels host Lamar on Wednesday. Elsewhere in the league, McNeese has lost three straight and they’ll be at Northwestern State on Saturday. The Demons have won two in a row and they’ll host Incarnate Word on Wednesday.

The Pelicans host Portland tomorrow. New Orleans beat Indiana and Chicago last week and they are five games back of Memphis for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri has named his starting pitchers for the opening weekend. Cole Henry will start the season opener on Friday against Indiana, Landon Marceaux will start Saturday and AJ Labas will toe the rubber on Sunday. Mainieri on why Marceaux will get the ball Saturday…

Lafayette native and former LSU track and field athlete Mondo Duplantis set a world record for the pole vault as he cleared 20-feet and three-inches during a competition in Poland. Duplantis is a favorite to win the gold medal at the Olympic games in Toyko this summer. He will represent his mother’s home country of Sweden.
