The Pelicans built a 27 point lead last night and held on to beat the Chicago Bulls 125 to 119. Zion Williamson had 21 points on nine of 11 shooting, J-J Redick added 18 points and All-Star Brandon Ingram had 15 points in 21 minutes. He rolled his right ankle and left in the third quarter. New Orleans is at Indiana on Saturday.

La Tech men’s basketball had a rough game in Bowling Green, Kentucky last night and lost to Western Kentucky 65-54. The Bulldogs trailed by as many as 22 points in this game.

The Ragin Cajuns also trailed by double digits last night but came back to beat Georgia State 80 to 78. Freshman Mylik Wilson had the winning bucket, a driving layup with two seconds left. Cedric Russell had 17 points.

ULM battled heard but lost its ninth straight as the Warhawks fell Georgia Southern 67-65. Michael Ertel had 30 points, including 22 in the second half.

LSU leaves today for a big game Saturday morning against 11th ranked Auburn, who has just two losses on the season. Tip off is at 11 AM.

Nicholls also has a big game Saturday. The Colonels host Sam Houston. Those two teams are tied for second place in the Southland.

LSU baseball has been picked to finish in third place int he SEC West behind Mississippi State and Arkansas. Tigers left fielder Daniel Cabrera and first base Cade Beloso were named to the preseason All-SEC team.
