A Lake Charles couple has been arrested for cruelty to a juvenile after they brought a three-year-old boy to a local hospital with injuries all over his body. K-12 students will have a chance to learn a little more about their Louisiana musical heritage thanks to a new curriculum assembled by the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities. Vice President of Content Erin Greenwald says the course will show children the state has a unique and prolific musical culture…

The current curriculum covers the roots of Jazz in New Orleans, but Greenwald says this will give teachers the option of showing their students a wide range of contributions.

The principal at W-D and Mary Baker Smith Career Center in Lafayette is facing drunk driving and hit and run charges. State Police say 55-year-old Ralph Thibodeaux crashed into three vehicles in Vermilion Parish and broke one of the wheels on his own vehicle. The Lafayette Parish School System says they are aware of the arrest and looking into it.
