LSU had an eight point lead with 12 minutes left in the game, but couldn’t hold on as Texas A&M rallied back to win last night 68-62. Jarell Martin lead the Tigers with 13 and Keith Hornsby added 11. The Aggie defense held Jordan Mickey to just 6 points and four rebounds for the night. The Tigers fall to 7-6 in league play with five league games left before the SEC Tournament.

The fourth ranked LSU baseball team looks to improve to 4-0 tonight when they host Nicholls State at 6:30. Tigers Coach Paul Mainieri is impressed that the Colonels took two of three from Stony Brook last weekend. Mainieri says they could have used a couple of wins against Stony Brook in the 2012 Super Regionals

Freshman right-hander Doug Norman will start on the mound for the Tigers, while the Colonels will counter with senior, Chalmette’s Ryan Deemes.
Yesterday in college baseball …McNeese State stays undefeated at 4-0 on the season, while Louisiana Tech remains winless at 0-4 as the Cowboys doubled up the Bulldogs four to two. The same two teams will play again today at 1 PM.

And UL-Lafayette is at Northwestern State. Game time for this matchup has been moved up to 4 PM, because of expected cold temperatures in Natchitoches.

The top high school football prospect in the state announced that he plans on playing his college football at Ole Miss. Quarterback Shea Patterson, who has led Calvary Baptist to two straight championships, chose the Rebels over LSU and USC. Patterson has thrown for over five-thousand yards and 72 touchdowns during his career at Calvary.

ULM Football Coach Todd Berry announced today that Travis Niekamp and Adam Waugh will serve as the Warhawks co-defensive coordinators in 2015. Niekamp has been with ULM the last three seasons, coaching linebackers and special teams. Waugh is entering his sixth season and he’s been the program’s safeties coach.
