Impeachment has spent the week in House Judiciary, home to Louisiana Congressmen Cedric Richmond and Mike Johnson.

Today in Ascension Parish, LSU is holding an Active Shooter exercise for the LSU National Center for Biomedical Research and Training/Academy of Counter Terrorist Education Instructors. These instructors work with local law enforcement and first responders on how to provide care during shootings. NCBRT/ACE Public Affairs Manager Kris Wartelle.

Before each responder only focused on their area of expertise.

A Webster Parish inmate was shot after allegedly stealing a vehicle and escaping while on work detail at the Webster Parish school board. Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton says after an all-night search, authorities located 40-year-old Norman Guthrie. Sexton says Guthrie was set to be released in March after serving time for aggravated battery, theft of a motor vehicle, and failure to appear charges.

Sexton says a motive for the attempted escape is unclear.

The attorney representing the former Livingston Parish deputy accused of rape and child pornography is trying to be removed from the case. According to The Advocate, J. David Bourland was hired privately to represent Dennis Perkins but as of Monday, Bourland has requested to resign from the case. In the filing Bourland stated that he and Perkins were “not able to proceed in an effective and sufficient manner to provide a proper and constitutional defense.” Perkins’ does have hearing scheduled for Dec. 19th.
