Your pets may be wanting to get in on some of the Thanksgiving spread, but what foods are okay for them? Louisiana SPCA spokesperson Alicia Vial says there are some foods that are okay, including the turkey.
Vial says you may want to watch out for the sugar content an animal consumes, but a small serving of cranberry sauce should be okay.
Potatoes are great, but be careful of the added ingredients used to make mashed potatoes. A small serving of canned pumpkin should be okay as well.
Vial says it is important to make sure pets do not access unattended food or beverages and be on the lookout for signs of distress with your pet that might indicate it may have gotten into something it should not have.

In the south, some people opt to deep fry their turkey for Thanksgiving, but if you aren’t familiar with the practice it can be extremely dangerous and has been known to cause severe burns and house fires. State Fire Marshall Butch Browning says where you choose to place to the deep fryer is very important.
Browning says a common mistake people make when they deep fry a turkey is that it’s not thawed properly. Also, the amount of oil used in the boiler is imperative.
If the turkey is not defrosted completely and there’s an excessive amount of grease in the fryer, Browning says the combination can be deadly.
Browning recommends that you always have a working fire extinguisher on hand and never use water to put out a grease fire. Also, do not allow children around when deep-frying a turkey.

With the holidays comes scammers trying to rip off unsuspecting victims. Webroot.com cybersecurity expert David Dufour says when you are on an unsecured Wi-Fi network at a place like a coffee shop or an airport, your information is potentially available for a cybercriminal to scrap off that network.

Dufour says often scammers will send out emails that look like an authentic retailer.

Dufour says any sort of incentives for savings will likely come in the form of promo codes, not clicking through links.
Scammers are also looking to shake down victims by posing as a charity. Dufour says many of the emails and text messages will ask for peculiar donations.
