A new NBA season tips off tonight and the Pelicans will get some national attention as T-N-T broadcasts their season opener in Toronto against the NBA defending champion Raptors. But rookie sensation Zion Williamson will not be in uniform as he’ll miss the next to six to eight weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a torn right lateral meniscus.

Locked on Pelicans publisher Jake Madison says Zion’s absence will give new Pels Lonzo Ball, JJ Redick, and Derrick Favors more of the limelight, but Madison says former Lakers small forward Brandon Ingram could benefit the most from the minutes…

Ingram, who was acquired in the Anthony Davis trade, put up 18 points and five rebounds a game last year for L.A. Tonight’s game tips off at 7:00.

The Saints held the Chicago Bears to just 17 yards rushing in their win on Sunday. It’s only the ninth time in franchise history they’ve held a team to fewer to 20 yards rushing. New Orleans is now ninth in the NFL in rush defense and 14th in pass defense. The Black and Gold host the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday.

LSU Safety Jacoby Stevens is the SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week. Stevens had a one-handed interception, eight tackles and a sack in the Tigers 36-13 win over Mississippi State. Coach Ed Orgeron says Stevens has really played well lately…
