Those interested in a career in the medical marijuana industry will have their shot today at Southern University. The college is hosting a job fair for it’s medical marijuana program starting at 4pm. Illera Holistic Healthcare is Southern’s grower, and CEO Dr. Chanda Macias says it’s a great opportunity to get your foot in the door of an industry that’s seen exceptional growth over the past few years.

Southern is one of two authorized growers in the state. The other, LSU and GB Sciences, have product that is now available at select pharmacies statewide.
Saints QB Drew Brees intends to practice with the team this week ahead of their Week 8 clash with the Cardinals this Sunday. In an interview with WWL Radio, Brees says he has been impressed with the team’s performance in his absence.
Five predominantly African American churches in Crowley have been vandalized since July, with the most recent incident being discovered this morning. Crowley Police Chief Jimmy Broussard says thankfully so far damage to the churches has been limited, but it’s still unnerving for congregants…

The first incident occurred in early July, with the rest occurring within the last month.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Eddie Rispone has so far not agreed to participate in any run-off debates or forums with Governor Edwards before the November 16 election. Because of Rispone’s momentum and Edwards’ public speaking skill, UL Lafayette Poli Sci Professor Pearson Cross does not expect there to be a run-off debate.
A recent poll shows the two candidates tied 47 to 47 percent.
