One officer has been killed and another wounded after a shootout in Mandeville near Highway 22 and US 190. Two suspects have been arrested after allegedly fleeing from the area in connection with the incident, and the shooting locked down large portions of highway 22 through Mandeville while forcing residents and businesses to shut their doors and take shelter nearby as police combed the area.

In a statewide poll funded by the Nexstar Media Group, 47-percent of Louisiana voters surveyed say they support an increase in the gasoline tax, while 33-percent oppose.
