A tropical wave is projected to move from south of Florida into the northeastern Gulf of Mexico by this weekend. National Weather Service Slidell meteorologist Gavin Phillips says expect the first impacts to be felt late Saturday with the heaviest rainfall on Sunday.

A new independent poll shows Governor Edwards within striking distance of winning re-election without a run-off. Edwards sits at 47-percent, Ralph Abraham at 24-percent and Eddie Rispone at 16-percent. Pollster Bernie Pinsonat conducted the survey

Pinsonat says 30-percent of white voters support Edwards, while 14-percent are undecided.

A poll by Alcohol.org shows Saints and Raiders fans are the heaviest drinkers on game day, downing on average 4.5 alcoholic beverages when their teams play. Haley, a veteran New Orleans bartender, thinks that sounds about right. She says that number is likely the result of the region’s drinking culture combining with businesses fighting to get game-day customers.
