A tropical wave is projected to move from south of Florida into the northeastern Gulf of Mexico by this weekend.  National Weather Service Slidell meteorologist Gavin Phillips says expect the first impacts to be felt late Saturday with the heaviest rainfall on Sunday.

Phillips adds there is only a medium chance for development, but it could bring up to five inches of rain.

State Fire Marshal Butch Browning is commemorating the anniversary of 9/11 by seeking donations to construct a museum to house the Spirit of Louisiana fire truck that was built by donations and sent to New York following the attacks.Browning says the truck has a history of not only serving the people of New York but also the people of New Orleans.
