Orgeron says junior left tackle Saahdiq Charles and senior linebacker Michael Divinity will both play against the Longhorns after missing the season opener for disciplinary reasons.

ULM has suspended defensive end Kerry Starks for Saturday’s game at Florida State after he reportedly spit in the face of a Grambling State player last weekend.

The Ragin Cajuns will host Liberty for their home opener on Saturday. Flames Head Coach Hugh Freeze has not received the ok from doctors to travel to Lafayette. The 49-year-old had back surgery last month and is also battling a staph infection that forced him to coach last week’s game from a hospital bed in the press box.

The first high school football polls are out and John Curtis is ranked number one in Class Five-A. The Patriots kick off the season tomorrow against Karr, the three-time defending champs in Four-A. West Monroe is ranked second in Five-A, but starting quarterback Garrett Kahmann is out indefinitely with a shoulder injury. He may need surgery.

In NFL news, the Cowboys and star running back Ezekiel Elliot have agreed to a six-year contract extension worth 90-million dollars. 50-million dollars is guaranteed. This contract is something to keep in mind for Saints fans. Running back Alvin Kamara could ask for a big payday next offseason as he’ll be entering the final year of his rookie contract.
