New Saints linebacker Kiko Alonso says he’s excited to be a member of the Black and Gold. New Orleans acquired the 29-year-old in a trade with Miami over the weekend. Last seasn, Alonso had 125 tackles and three interceptions. He says he’ll do whatever he can to help the team win.

One of the surprise cuts to get down to a 53-man roster was safety and special teams standout Chris Banjo. But Coach Sean Payton said on Monday the door is not shut for Banjo to return.

Despite losing to Kansas State in its season opener, Nicholls has moved up two spots to number ten in the STATS FCS Top 25 poll. The Colonels are on the road again this Saturday to face Prairie View A-and-M. Southeastern Louisiana shocked Jacksonville State and they find themselves ranked 23rd. The Lions will not play this Saturday. S-L-U’s game against Bethune-Cookman has been cancelled because of Hurricane Dorian.

Former LSU Tiger and now Tulane starting quarterback Justin McMillan was named as the American Athletic Conference offensive player of the week as the senior accounted for three touchdowns in the Green Wave’s season opening win over F-I-U. Tulane is at Auburn this Saturday.
