The Louisiana Department of Transportation has received 76 million dollars from the federal government that will go towards expanding I-12 between U-S 190 and LA 59 and five bridge replacement projects around the state. DOTD Secretary Shawn Wilson says this year’s allocation from the feds is slightly lower than last year and below the 100 million anticipated, but it comes after years of record levels of funding.

Many people who work are enjoying a day off today for Labor Day. Escalating trade tensions with China has some concerned about the possibility of a recession. But LSU economist doctor Loren Scott says of the forecasts he looks at, that doesn’t appear to be in the cards.
