A longshot candidate for governor is under fire for using a racist phrase on talk radio. Gary Landrieu, was on WGSO radio in New Orleans and while being asked about names used against him when he was a child, a racially offensive term used against people who support African-Americans was made. A Gary Landrieu spokeswoman said he was just bluntly explaining his childhood experiences. As a nephew of former Mayor Moon Landrieu, who had championed civil rights Gary Landrieu’s stances are drastically different from those of his famous relatives.

The festival wraps up on Labor Day.
Gas prices are down 40 cents a gallon compared Labor Day Weekend last year.There’s already gas stations in Louisiana, particularly in the Capital City Region seeing prices under two dollars a gallon. AAA Fuel Analyst Don Redman says it may not be long before that’s the norm.
Right now the statewide average is 2.19 a gallon.
The Eastbank Little League world-champions are being honored with a parade this morning in Jefferson Parish. They are the first Louisiana team to ever win the Little League World Series title. The Little Leaguers are hot commodities on parade route they’ve also been chosen to ride in the Krewe of Bacchus Parade. The Eastbank All-Stars and the girls’ Eastbank World Series finalists will ride in a special float February 23rd in New Orleans.
