Hurricane Dorian is forecast to make landfall as a Category 4 storm on the Atlantic coast of South Florida late Monday or early Tuesday, but it’s not a storm to dismiss in Louisiana just yet.

A Jefferson Parish Deputy had a near miss after a standoff with a suspect ends in the suspect firing a round at the officer that was deflected off his gun belt. That suspect was ultimately shot and wounded, and even bitten by a police dog. The standoff began when authorities were called to the scene to assist with a person who was struggling with mental health issues.
