The Saints concluded the regular season last night with a 16-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins. New Orleans started Teddy Bridgewater at quarterback and he was 9-of-13 for 83 yards and a touchdown to Emmanuel Butler. Half of his yards came on a pass to Lil’Jordan Humphrey. The coaches will now have to cut the roster down to 53 and that group will face Houston in the regular-season opener on September 9th.

The 2019 season kicks off tomorrow night for the sixth-ranked LSU Tigers as they take on Georgia Southern. There’s been a lot of talk in the offseason about an improved offense, but the voice of the Tigers, Chris Blair, believes the Bayou Bengals will have one of the best defenses in the country

Big wins last night for Tulane and Southeastern Louisiana. The Green Wave were impressive in their 42-14 win over F-I-U. Quarterback Justin McMillan was efficient, 14 of 18 for 199 yards and two touchdowns. McMillan also had a 17-yard touchdown run right before half to put the Green Wave up 28-7.

In the F-C-S, Southeastern Louisiana hammered sixth-ranked Jacksonville State 35-14. Chason Virgil and Cole Kelley combined to throw for three touchdowns and the Lions defense led by former McNeese coach Lance Guidry forced four turnovers.

Northwestern State dropped its season opener to U-T Martin, falling 42-20. Shelton Eppler threw for 387 yards and three touchdowns, but the Demons didn’t score in the second half.

And in NBA news…the Pelicans announce that forward Darius Miller tore his Achilles Tendon. The injury is expected to sideline him for seven to eight months, after signing a two-year, 14 million dollar contract in July.
