Public memorials and the funeral for former Governor Kathleen Blanco have been set. On Thursday morning in Baton Rouge, an interfaith service will take place at St. Joseph’s Cathedral. Later that day, Blanco will lie in state at Louisiana Capitol. In Lafayette on Friday from 12:30 to 8, there will be a public visitation at St. John the Evangelist Cathedral and Saturday morning will be the funeral at St. John the Evangelist Cathedral followed by a private burial.

The Pelican Institute hosts a public forum at the Old State Capitol today aimed at getting a framework in place for a potential state constitutional convention. CEO Daniel Erspamer says interest is growing in reforming the state constitution, and more politicians have come on board to the idea. GB Sciences of Louisiana reports that approximately five thousand patients received medical marijuana in the first two weeks of its release. GB Sciences began shipping vials of cannabis to pharmacies August 6 after years of delays. GB Sciences President John Davis reported the numbers at a stakeholders meeting Monday.
