The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office says two men were gunned down in Donaldsonville yesterday afternoon. They say 37-year-old Chad Nichols and 29-year-old Benny Booker of Prairieville were shot in front of Nichols home. Nichols was pronounced dead at the scene. Booker was transported to a local hospital where he later died. Authorities were informed by witnesses that two white vehicles were seen fleeing the home shortly after the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.

The Revenue Estimating Conference says falling oil prices will result in an 103-million dollar reduction in spending this fiscal year by state government. State government watchdog CB Forgotston says he believes state government can handle that without a dramatic reduction to state services…

And based on economists projections, the REC has increased the budget deficit for next fiscal year to one-point-six billion dollars.

The State Department of Health and Hospitals sets up a program, called “Own Your Own Health”, that encourages Louisiana residents to take control of their health. Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports Director Rudy Macklin says one aspect of the program is called “Own Your Own Health Now” which helps you make the correct choices regarding your own wellness…
