The NBA free agency mad dash began with a splash 6pm and the Pels have used their cap space to grab two highly respected veterans at positions of need, and a Euroleague shooter.

To begin the night, the Pels secured sharpshooting 35-year-old guard JJ Reddick on a two year, 26 million dollar deal that takes care of the team’s vital need for floor spacing. Later, the Pels traded two second round picks to the Jazz in return for 28-year-old Center Derrick Favors, known for effective interior defense and strong rebounding. The former 3rd overall pick will likely be the team’s starter at the 5. European forward Nicolo Melli was brought in on a two year, 8 million dollar deal as well.

UL Lafayette baseball head coach Tony Robichaux has undergone a second major surgery related to his ongoing heart problems that were caught last sunday, and is in critical condition at the Oscher Health Center ICU.

In other NBA Free Agency news, superstar, injured forward Kevin Durant is headed to Brooklyn with former Celtic point guard Kyrie Irving, and former Brooklyn point guard DeAngelo Russel is headed to Golden State. The league awaits Raptors forward Kawahi Leonard’s ultimate decision.

LSU starting Quarterback Joe Burrow says he has a much greater comfort level as he heads into his second season in Purple and Gold. Burrow arrived in Baton Rouge last summer as a graduate transfer from Ohio State and admits his life was a little more chaotic…

Former Captiol High school star basketball player Seimone Augustus has been inducted into the national highschool sports hall of fame. She played at Capitol from 98-2002, scoring 3,600 points, and grabbing 1,728 rebound.
