A Union Parish 3-year-old is in critical condition after an attack by three neighborhood dogs. Investigators say the mother was taking a nap and when she woke, realized that the child was not in the house with her other two children. The 3-year-old was found next to a shed in the yard with his clothes ripped from his body and covered in numerous injuries. Two pitbulls mix and a shepherd mix are suspect to be behind the attack.
 

 

A Baton Rouge woman is one million dollars richer thanks to a social media post.  Lottery spokesperson BreAnne Frye says checked her ticket after Singleton was tagged in a Facebook post by her sister-in-law in Connecticut that someone in Baton Rouge had one a million dollar Powerball prize, adding that the winnings come at a good time for Singleton.

It’s been a tough year for the Louisiana seafood industry and an algae bloom in Lake Pontchartrain is the latest hurdle.  Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser says there is no shortage of red tape to cut through to get federal assistance for those that are getting nothing right now in the seafood industry.

The opening of the Bonnet Carre Spillway has affected the salinity levels of Lake Pontchartrain and the Mississippi Sound, impacting tourism and driving catchable product further offshore.
