There is optimism again this offseason when it comes to LSU’s offense. The optimism is based on the hiring of passing game coordinator Joe Brady, who previously worked under Saints head coach Sean Payton. The 29-year-old Brady was hired in January to work with offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger on developing an offense that will contain more run-pass option schemes. Brady says the offense is now 100-percent implemented, but it’s not a finished product…

Brady says for this offense to take off, the young group of receivers need to make plays. Receivers coach Mickey Joseph says incoming sophomore Terrace Marshall has shown the most improvement.

Saints Quarterback Drew Brees has given Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson a signed jersey and on the jersey, Brees left a message that said he’s passing the torch to Williamson. The gift to Williamson was caught on video and released by the Pelicans. Zion was shocked and says it’s his first signed jersey.

Todd Graffagnini has been named as the new radio play-by-play voice of the Pelicans. He’s been calling Tulane sporting events since 1992 and he’ll replace Sean Kelley, who will be doing more national broadcasts.

Vanderbilt has forced a winner take all game in the College World Series by beating Michigan four to one last night. Commodores pitcher Kumar Rocker struck out 11 and allowed just three hits in 6.1 innings in the Vandy victory. The deciding game three of their championship series is tonight in Omaha.

D-J LeMahieu’s solo home run in the 1st inning helped the Yankees make history last night as it’s the 28th straight game New York has hit a home run, which is a new M-L-B record. The Yankees went on to beat the Blue Jays 4 to 3.
