LSU football received a verbal commitment today from a five-star recuirt. Riverdale cornerback Donte Jackson chose the Tigers over the Georgia Bulldogs. Jackson had five interceptions for the Rebels last season, average 38 yards on kick returns and he was also outstanding on offense. Jackson said today there’s a chance he can play on both offense and defense.

LSU basketball rebounded from a tough loss on Saturday to Texas A-and-M to beat Florida last night. The loss ended the Gators 20-game SEC home winning streak. Jarell Martin had 22 points and Tim Quarterman added 15 points.

In other action last night…Sam Houston State defeated Nicholls State 62-39, McNeese State beat Abilene Christian 63-56. Desharick Guidry had 21 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. And Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi had its way with Northwestern State, beating the Demons 88-76.

You will be able to watch every LSU game this season, whether it’s on your computer, tablet, labtop or your TV. Most of the games will be streamed, but 20 of the 56 regular season games are set to be shown on television, whether it’s one of the ESPN channels or CST.

Southeastern Louisiana’s Bryan Bennett has been added to the South Roster of the Senior Bowl. Bennett threw for 18 touchdowns and 23-hundred yards last season for the Lions. He’s the third player from S-L-U to get a chance at playing in the Senior Bowl, which is this Saturday at 3 PM.

The Saints have reportedly fired their director of college scouting Rick Reiprish after 11 years with the club. It’s expected that former Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland will take his place.

In the NBA…the Pelicans host the Los Angeles Lakers tonight. Anthony Davis is expected to play. He missed the last two games because of a toe injury. New Orleans has a record of 20-and-21 as they’ve hit the halfway point of the season.
