LSU battled for a school record six-hours, 43-minutes and for 17 innings, another school record, against Mississippi State, but it was the Bulldogs who came out on top six to five in the SEC Tournament. M-S-U was able to push across the winning run thanks to a couple of wild pitches from losing pitcher Ma’Khail Hilliard and then a base hit by Mississippi State rightfielder Gunner Halter.

LSU rallied back from a four to nothing deficit to send the game into extra innings. Giovanni DiGiacomo hit his first home run at LSU, a two-run shot in the eighth to tie the game. LSU took the lead in the 16th inning, but Hilliard gave up a run in the 16th and 17th. The Bayou Bengals will now have to play again at 1 PM in an elimination game against Auburn, after finishing yesterday’s game at 3:03 this morning.

Louisiana Tech is facing a Conference USA Tournament elimination game this morning at 9 AM versus Rice. The Bulldogs lost to Marshall six to four in 12 innings.

ULM pulled off a big upset in the Sun Belt Tournament as the Warhawks blanked top seeded Texas State eight to nothing. Trey Jeans threw a three-hitter, Joey Jordan drove in two runs. ULM will now face fourth-seeded Texas-Arlington at 6:30 tonight. The Ragin Cajuns lost in 13 innings to Georgia Southern, six to five and will play an elimination game this morning against Troy.

In the Southland Tournament, Stephen F Austin blanked Southeastern Louisiana five to nothing, Central Arkansas shutout Northwestern State two to nothing, but McNeese edged Incarnate Word two to one. Aidan Anderson threw his first complete game. Today, S-L-U faces Northwestern State in an elimination game,while the Cowboys will face eight seeded Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi at 7 PM.

In the NBA, the Pelicans Jrue Holiday has been named to the league’s All-Defensive second team.

The NFL is eliminating the single-header rule, which means fans throughout the country will get to see three games every Sunday afternoon.
