The Louisiana Supreme Court has refused to hear convicted killer Brandon Scott Lavergne’s request for a new trial. Lavergne is serving life sentences for after pleading guilty to first-degree murder in August 2012 in the death of UL Lafayette student Mickey Shunick.
The US Supreme Court decides won’t hear a Baton Rouge case that involves whether a priest should report confessions of sex abuse against a minor. The church asked the nation’s highest court to review the case, after the Louisiana Supreme Court ruled that priests should be mandatory reporters like teachers. Legal analyst Tim Meche says the Catholic Church believes a confession is private and they’ll continue to protect that confidentiality despite the Supreme Court not hearing this specific case…:
