A female Shreveport police officer was fatally shot last night before she was set to begin her night shift. Corporal Marcus Hines says one person has been detained, but there’s been no update on whether charges have been filed. The Shreveport Times has identified the fallen officer as Chateri Payne, who recently joined the force.

The Louisiana Legislative Women’s Caucus has requested the Board of Ethics to reconsider a decision that prohibits campaign funds be used on child care costs. Kevin Barnhart has the story.
