Three Jefferson Parish men have been arrested on cockfighting charges in lower Plaquemines Parish. Yesterday, deputies responded to a report of a cockfight in a wooded area with a gathering of about 3 dozen people. The three men who allegedly organized the event fled the scene, but were apprehended a short time later.

Most everyone here in Louisiana knows her as Elly Mae, and yesterday, actress and former beauty queen Donna Douglas passed away at the age of 81.
