The state department of revenue will begin collecting sales taxes in two weeks on purchases made on websites that do not have a physical presence in Louisiana. The sales tax will be 8.45 percent and about half of that will be sent to local governments based on a parish’s population.

The US Justice Department is drawing up the paperwork to ban bump stocks, which can a turn legal weapon into an illegal machine gun.
