State Police say a pedistrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on US 190 in St. Tammany Parish last night. Authorities say 27-year-old Joseph Robinson III of Lacombe was attempting to retrieve a ladder that fell from the back of his truck when he was hit by an SUV. Robinson was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

As the state’s industrial boom continues, Louisiana’s largest utility company finds itself needing to generate more power to meet demand. Entergy will likely build new power plants, to the tune of $1 billion apiece, which their customers will be expected to pay for. But spokesperson Mike Burns says the company believes they will still be able to keep customers electricity costs among the lowest in the nation…

Burns says Entergy has already bought a power plant in El Dorado, Arkansas to make electricity and a new unit in Westwego will go online soon.

The Music City Bowl, featuring the 22nd ranked LSU Tigers and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, kicks off at 2PM today in Nashville on ESPN. The Tigers are a 7-point favorite going into the game.
